Title: Anyone changed a radiator on a Meriva?
Post by: terry paget on 23 November 2016, 07:15:24
Servicing sister's Meriva petrol 1.6 I was alarmed to find the coolant header tank empty. I topped it up with Dex-Cool, and am now running the engine at idle, car over pit, while I look for leaks. I see no leaks, but see a little steam rising from behind the radiator.

Is changing it a big job?

Shouldn't be... bear in mind that the slam panel might unbolt, but also that the radiator might be easier to remove from underneath ;)

Vectra C, for example, is bumper off, then undo the two brackets beneath the radiator and drop it out. :y

Pretty easy with minimal disassembly.

Its rarely the rad though, its usually the water pump or one of the nylon connections to the water pump so worth a good look

Thank you for advice gentlemen. After running the car at idle for 4 hours the coolant level had not fallen, so I have returned the car to my sister, promising to check coolant level when I next visit. The car has no coolant level sensor, so I may have caught it in the nick of time.
