Still looking into stainless steel exhaust system for the Merc, have had 3 quotes all around the same amount from Longlife, Powerflow & Magnaflow . The most helpful have been Powerflow & they are local I had a Longlife system years ago on a Scooby , but the outfits now seem to be run by cowboys having visited my nearest branch in Peterborough , came across very bad feedback for Magnaflow on the web although this was about systems fitted to vehicles in the USA .Just wondering does anybody on here have any knowledge or recommendations ?

Answered your own question I think...
Incidentally, how much is a genuine Mercedes one by comparison?

I am led to believe an MB oe exhaust system is around £1,000 stainless quotes are around £700-£800.The system on the car is original but I am not happy with how it sounds too quiet for a V8 doesn't really rumble till around 70 mph

I have used profusion customs. Heathrow based, very helpful and explained everything very well. I only had a magnaflow rear box fitted as i had just put on new 3ltr cats and the middleboxes where like new. Chap did say they would make up full system to what everspec you wanted. I think full system from cat back twin centres etc was just over a grand.

That's kind of the point...
If you want noisy, buy an E55 ::)

No the E 430 is perfect wouldn't find an E55 in this condition looked at some don't like the garish interior , noisy no, V8 burble yes. My mate has the C43 with just the sound I want.

That's because it's an AMG... Relatively speaking, the C43 is a performance car, whereas the E430 is an executive cruiser.
That's not to dismiss its abilities, but rather to highlight the distiction :y

i do wonder if stainless is worth the extra. probably yes if the part is difficult/costly to replace but most exhausts are straightforward and designed to be so. stainless still corrodes just not as fast as mild steel (unless the ss is thinner which I bet some are).
