No, Mark, he's a gentle soul. I guess it's his Aspergers I'm worried about, but it's probably his aspergers that's made his capable of doing a masters degree in maths, they seem to have brains like calculators.
He will be living at home ( :P Mark) and, if he gets an offer from Sheffield, it will be even less travelling. But you will understand, Grasshopper, when yours are at this age.

I'm looking forward to when she is older, in the middle of the night I'll wake her to make sure she goes and gets me a beer ;D

Or the other way round more than likely when she's 18+ to come and pick her up in the middle of the night, after she's been clubbing with her mates and hasn't got the taxi fare home ::) ;D

Your lad could become the next Allan 'sniffer' Clarke.
He certainly won't be short of pussy. The girls can't stop themselves. :y

On the positive side,you can be very proud not only of you parenting skills,but also of him for having achieved this much and hopefully he'll go on to greater things in future :y

Well done him. He must get his intelligence from his mum. :)
Seriously though, great news for all of you Steve. Understand the mixed feelings too. Moved my lad into Uni a couple of months ago,and it was lump in the throat time when we left him there. ;)
-
Congratulations to your boy, well done to him. :y
He has obviously got his intelligence from his mum. :P :P :P

That is now two people who have said your lad gets his brains from his mum.
Strange that. ::)

My Nephew is Aspergers, and has just started a course at Liverpool (so he can live at home) in some sort of biological science. His sister has not been diagnosed, but got a first in Social Work and I think she is very good at Child protection, because she has no emotional soul. Children are removed from parents, in a clearly defined process, and when you take out the emotion, it's pretty clear who is and who isn't at risk.
The youngest is Autistic and has other issues, but break me, for an 8 year old, he's bright. Provided you get his attention for more than 3 seconds.
If you look at my father in law, who is now 80, you can see where the gene comes from, (in the past he'd be described as shear bloody minded) and my own kids, whilst not aspergers, have got the science gene. Son got an MCHEM 1st from York and Daughter is in the 3rd year of an MPharm at Cardiff.
Mind you I've visited Leeds University on Open Days and Interview days with them both, and taken my dad and my nan to reminisce about their time at the place (Nan - RIP, met my Grandad in 1928 whilst both studying Maths, and My Dad did Physics there in the early 60's)
