Title: The VectaB is not well again
Post by: Taxi_Driver on 28 November 2006, 18:56:46
Took it too garage this morning to have an engine mounting changed......it clunks from the nearside front when dropping the clutch out quick.....garage diagnosed the prob last week but we couldnt get a new engine mount until today.
So new engine mount fitted and its still not right....engine was still loose and garage wernt happy.....then they find a gearbox mount that is knackered too......vx dealer has one of them so no delay in getting on of them.....then apparently and it waz lucky so they said that they had a chain attached to engine holding it up.....that when they undid part of the sub frame at the back of the engine to get to the gearbox mounting....the engine nearly fell out!  :o There are two sub frame bushes at the front that both fell out when they dropped the engine a bit.....so its two new bushes to replace those....but cannot get them till tomorrow  :(

It had a bad impact on one off the front wheels a month or back.....just wondering if this impact weakened the engine/sub frame/gearbox bushes  :-/

ooo, ooo can i have dibs on the LPG injectors, ECU & Tank?  ;D

Seriously though that is a bugger! - Mind you 200k is a lot for a veccy, seams to have served you well.

Just a thought was watching TV earlier, and saw the usual Hyundi ad with their 5 year warrenty / 100k miles. I am guessing there is some small print someware which excludes taxi use? - I personally would not own one, but if u get the warrenty be good as a workhorse.

Exactly, but as a taxi would do the job.

Having said that i sat in loads of motors couple of years ago at the motorshow in birmingham. Sat in their Sontator??? at the time, and it was quite comfy i must say, although the interior dash and looks are a bit naff.

Just think, you could buy a three year old hyundai, and still get a longer manufacturers warranty than with a brand new ford :o

Yep there is......think it drops down to 2 years if used for business!
Oh and have they changed the mileage limit then?? coz it used to be 5years/unlimited miles

Mitshibushi used to be the best for business when i looked a couple of years ago.....3 years/unlimited....Nearly bought a Lancer estate....for 10k i could have got lancer estate...automatic and leather interior......now thats not a bad price! But what put me off..is lancer is probably ford escort size.....its a tad small.....plus for some unknown reason if you went for auto option you had to have the 1.6.....2.0 auto wasnt an option  :( Plus there seemed to be a question mark about converting them to lpg.....manu used to supply them as dual fuel as an option.....but then rather quickly had over 1000 cars converted back to petrol only.....dealer was unsure why?!
