Title: Defamatory posts, our admins and the law
Post by: Bandit127 on 29 July 2008, 18:39:12
Looks like the law on this may have evolved a bit today...

Being able to sue an Admin for a flaming post by a member of a forum is as fair as successfully suing Mcdonalds for spilling coffee in your own lap. IMO. Good to see it could be swinging back towards common sense.

"Money and position talks"; always has, always will!........

I remember during the worst Ministerial excess` of the "Tories" 80`s administration; certain well placed individuals used the shield of justice (or threat of same) to bully an hector the media`s presentation of fact to read the way they wished.....some, (delightfully) have paid the price since, with (well-deserved) time spent at Her Majesty`s. ;)

The print-coverage of the sexual apsects of the Mosley case were undoubtedly skewed; but what amazed me is how he was able to present himself as the 'wronged' (victim).....yes, surely it wasn`t a 'Nazi Sex Orgy'; but it was an S & M orgy all the same.....personally, I for one don`t think that`s regarded by many as a "normal" (albeit private) everyday-behaviour. ::)

Sadly, I fear we shall follow the U.S into a hyper-litigious culture where the first recourse of the dusputatious is to Law; perhaps where previously a short period of anger might be followed by a longer period of introspection/embarassment.
If-so, we shall all be the poorer for it! :(

.....Ooooh-Errrr!

;D Perhaps an OOF Sadomasochistic "Pain & Pleasure" subforum might be needed? ;D

Should be easy to spot the masochists; they all drive 53 plate 3.2`s! :y

We are already there. Trained First Aiders walk by accidents. Parents dont discipline kids in public. I could go on... but fear of litigation permeates our lives at work, rest and play. And the Government does nothing but abuse technology to increase the chance that we will all be litigated against for petty infringement of petty laws.

We (the majority) are being made to suffer because the system has been skewed to pander to the small minorities - some of them truly dangerous. And some of them self centred, small minded bigots who think there is no such thing as an accident and believe in free money.

This is not a post about religion, colour or party politics. It is a post about the system going wrong and the Government continuing to make it worse with the full support of an increasingly hysterical media.

And it makes me sad for the next generation. Most of whom are disenfranchised and consequently less able to do something about it than we are.

:( :( :(

Just look over the pond to those loonies in the US of A and it will happen here next. Lawsuits, mugging, gun and knife crime, no go neighbourhoods, (c)rap music etc. The only thing we haven't followed with is petrol prices.
