I always try to get my insurance, whatever type, through a cashback site. Having checked on a comparison site for SWMBO'S Jazz insurance, Admiral came up second cheapest to Saga by a fiver, however on Topcashback their cashback was listed as about double, so....armed with the figure from the comparison site, I input the exact same details on Admiral via Topcashback, and, surprise surprise, the figure quoted was almost exactly the the original figure PLUS the expected cashback. ;D It seems they've now cottoned on to us cheapskates, and just hope to suck us in with a large 'cashback' carrot. Glad I did my homework, as Saga, even though a lower cashback rate, still worked out cheaper in the end, as their cashback quote was the same as the comparison site. :y

Yup, thats frequently been the case.
Remember, things like car insurance is pretty competitive, so they have little margin to play with

I think they try it on sometimes tho' .....
When I had 4 cars all on taxi insurance with the same company...
1st car Vectra LPG £800/year, insured fully comp with me and one named driver
2nd car Vectra LPG £800/year, insured fully comp with me and one named driver
3rd car Merc 220D £800/year, insured fully comp with me and one named driver
They sent the renewal for my Omega through ... £1200 .. so I phoned them up....and asked why so high...they asked me what id like the premium to be....I said how about £800, same as the rest.....put on hold for a few mins....then yep £800 is fine.... :)
So they suddenly found a reduction of £400 ...... ::)

I think they've definitely got smarter, I've had about £60 cashback for each of the last three years, from eventually, Sheila's Wheels, then DirectLine, last year the Co-op which has taken 11 months to pay out! :y
