Hi all,I've been away for almost 3 months and just went to open the omega but the battery is probably flatter than a pancake and the door won't unlock with the key.It turns to the left freely but to the right its tight any ideas?I didn't want to put too much pressure on the key.

You need to put a lot of pressure on the key to get it to unlock. A squirt of WD40 in the lock might make it a little easier ?

Spare battery attached via jump leads - positive lead onto starter connection, earth to a good clean earth point.
Make sure the connections are clean :y

Insulate everything else. A few winds of tape is enough.

Sorry i think you lost me with the battery,do you mean after i open door or before?

The alternator has a big fat cable which goes to the battery terminal but it is VERY EASY to short out to earth and you end up doing a bit of impromptu spot welding :-X :-X :-X
In other words, if your very carful, you can get enough juice to the circuit to open the doors :y :y
If not, carry on with the key in the lock ;)
I little idea for you if this may happen again ..............
Once your under the bonnet, take a couple of fly leads off the positive and negative terminals.
Mumeyfy them in tape and leave then under the car, behind the fog light so you can get 12 volts to the car if you are in the shit again :y

Ah i see it, but it must be very difficult to get to unless you're over a pit?

Turn the key as far to the right as humanly possible. Then keep turning it so far that you think the key might snap. Then add a quarter turn.
Should now be unlocked ;)
Note that the button might not pop up, but you will feel the lock release...

and the lesson learned is ...... use your manual key every now & then in the door ... use it or loose it.
As DG says, it should open with the key, though on one occasion my car refused point blank to let me in with the key, so I opened the boot (MFL) and powered the car up enough via the boot light to trigger the central locking via the fob

The key has always worked fine but the battery has never been this flat because the car has always been in use.I didn't want to break anything on my 2nd day back so here seemed a very good place to start as the advise given is invaluable to those of us less knowlegeable but learning. Many thanks to all

My Elite's battery was flatter than a flat thing a few weeks ago.
I have read repeatedly on here about how you have to apply extreme force to manually unlock the door so I had a go but couldn't bring myself to apply that much force and gave up.
10 minutes later I tried again but gently jiggled the key until the tumblers fell into place and the key then turned easy as anything

Absolutely, that can't be stressed enough.
And if you're stupid enough to own a Renault, ensure that you use all of the remote keys occasionally. If you only have one, then sooner or later you WILL have problems.

Stupid people are everywhere.
So are Renaults.
And while correlation is not necessarily causation, it's an entirely reasonable assumption in this case.

How solved? When I had this problem my golf battery connected to the starter got me in.
