Title: Key fob issues
Post by: pscocoa on 08 January 2017, 15:22:31
I went out to the Astra and tried to unlock with key fob - no response. Tried the spare and same thing. Opened with key, alarm went off, key in ignition and started car. Alarm silenced. But fobs do not work at all.

My wife's insignia and neighbours Lexus suffering exactly same problems.

On a community site people half a mile away are reporting similar problems - they suspect jammers. VW and Ford not affected.

Tried resynch of key fob but no joy.

Thought jammers had to be line of sight.

Since Asda Chatham opened their petrol station, my car remote doesn't work in the store car park. It's fine everywhere else.

Not long after I started doing recovery, we had a six month stretch of Vauxhalls not starting in Horsted Retail Park, and in the industrial estate on the other side of Rochester Airport. Every one of these cars started when moved a mile away. When they removed the hanger that housed some sort of Russian helicopter that BAE Systems were working on, the problem stopped. This is a common problem with aftermarket alarms in hospital car parks.

I suspect that your problem is caused by someone installing equipment that interferes with the remotes.

The Tetra Networks (National UHF Digital Radio Service for Government) used to sprog out on the Fobs frequencies, but Im fairly sure they've addressed most of that now.
