The alarm went off on the car of a lad at work the other night, he went out to look but couldn't see owt. Tried to reset the alarm but it wouldn't, so went to put the key in the igniton to reset it. Then he realised why the alarm had gone off.
Some theiving lowlife had nicked his bonnet! ??? ??? ??? ???
The car is a late Defender 90 and if you look in the interweb, it seems they're quite frequently nicked, partly as they're so easy to remove ... they're a 'go-faster' 'power bulge' type that will easily fit on older cars.

The local to station to us Bruumy Telly or some such ::) ran a piece on this not long ago. Apparently thieving of defender bits is rife as there's a massive enthusiast market for parts and people have got wise to whole cars being stolen with trackers etc now commonplace.
Also I would imagine defender bonnet isn't hard to pinch (iirc hinges on the outside? ::))
