Title: An offer you can't refuse . . .
Post by: Mister Rog on 03 February 2017, 10:16:12

There seems to be a vegetable shortage. In public this is being blamed on the weather in Spain, the reality is that Greggs overordered it's normal supply of lettuce.

However, in my usual public spirited manner I am happy to exchange my rations of lettuce for portions of triple fried chips. Sausage rolls will also be considered but only good quality jumbo size !

I agree. Fruit and vegetables in the North of the country will never catch on. ::)

.......and a deep fried Mars bar does not count as one of your five-a-day. :)

I had some marmalade on my toast this morning, there's one.....oranges. I've just had a Bakewell tart with my ham buttie, strawberry jam in that.....two. And it's only midday yet.

I blame Brexit ;)

I do normally for anything that goes wrong however having seen the snows and then floods at first hand here in Spain, I can vouch for the authenticity of the story.

Who eats lettuce in the middle of winter anyway  :-\

Hardly comfort food, which I reckon most people eat in the winter time  :)

I come home in the evening, wanting a nice steak pie or roast dinner or some meat grilled at this time of year....never want a ham salad!...that's summertime food!

Yes a couple of weeks ago it was being described as the courgette crisis :o now it's moved on to other veg type stuff.Supermarkets are rationing the amounts people can buy of broccoli and such.

I do eat veg, obviously, but I can't remember the last time I had courgette and I don't think I've ever had aubergine.

If you ever get the opportunity try them  . . . . .

Deep fried in batter  :D . . . . . delicious. BUT . . . . anything deep fried in batter is delicious

Aubergine is good seared and then served with garlic olive oil. Ah, ok so the courgette and aubergine shortage is down to the Greeks and Turks  ???

Good question, well presented...

It's normally all my fault, so an act of God makes a nice change ;) But as long as Gran Canaria is warm and sunny at the end of April, then that will be ticketyboo :)

Bloody Daily Mail making a crisis out of a hiccup... ::)

When the sandal wearing vegetablists run out of food, the real people can eat them... Snow should have melted by the time we run out of ribs and thighs :D

It's normally all my fault, so an act of God makes a nice change ;) But as long as Gran Canaria is warm and sunny at the end of April, it doesn't snow in western France at the beginning of March, then that will be ticketyboo :)

Fixed that for you. Blame will be assigned whatever happens ;D

Three good things come from Scotland

1. Malt Whisky

2. Fried stuff. Try Lorne sausage with black pud, eggs, and . . . . fried fruit cake !   ::)

3. Women (SWMBO is a Scot so I have to say that)
