Title: Arnie v Donald.
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 03 February 2017, 12:07:10
I suggest we lock them  in a small room for an hour and let them sort out any differences of opinion. The one who walks out is the President of the U.S.A.

If Arnie loses he is not allowed to say "I'll be back" :)

Yes I saw the report on the news last night, the whole Trump thing is becoming the circus I thought it would be , somehow I don't think he will last very long, once Clint Eastwood gets involved😉. Come on Trump make my day.

Apparently they have things in common, such as the number 90.

The one refers to Arnies IQ and the other to Trumps willy, in millimetres.

The American people have very short memories... ignoring armed children and trigger happy cops for a moment as they are a very separate issue; every terrorist event on US soil from 9/11 was carried out by individuals either from or linked to the seven countries on the list.

It is a more constructive short term measure whilst a viable long term defence is found. Not exactly tactful, but effective at restricting entry.

Banning anyone from entering here from Ireland due to potential IRA links would have a similar effect of outrage here.

The whole thing carries a certain logic provided it is only a short term arrangement.

Credit where it's due, he said he was going to do it, so why is anyone surprised that he actually did? (that's a rhetorical question because nobody expects a politician to keep there word. It is refreshing though).

Couldn't possibly ban people from Saudi, they are 'allies'. And with allies like that, who needs enemies?  ;D

Surely you don't think Donald or, perhaps, Donald's cronies, could have business interests in Saudi?  ::)

The list was drawn up by Obama and only includes those countries where there is civil unrest at the moment.

I believe Iran is on the list, a member of my team is from Iran. Quite shocking to think that only one of us can enter the U.S, under Mr Trumps rules.

In what way? Each country has a clearly defined right to restrict it's borders to whomsoever as it sees (un)fit.

In our case, that border is about 1,600 miles away at the far edge of the EU.

For a few months. ::)

Was your Iranian colleague planning a visit in the near future?

Strange how you can find this "shocking". Do you know how many countries have PERMANENTLY banned Israeli passport holders (and, in some cases, those who have merely visited Israel). Are you "shocked" by that?

Yup, another one has had to cancel recent trip, which was holiday. But parking holidays, just work released trips impacted as well.

I'm more "shocked" that you think he good leader.  ;D

A man who looks orange, with a wig, who publicly mocks a disabled person. Anyway, my last post on it, you like him, personally I think he is a F***Ing idiot who should be shot on sight.  :y

It might not be your preferred approach, but if you want to control something, you either legalise and regulate it or you ban it completely and suffer the consequences...

Now I am not suggesting that legalising cocaine is a good idea, but in a growing market, it could be controlled and taxed, making it safer and generating revenue, thereby putting dealers out of business and reducing drug related crime...

Gun laws are no different,  and don't forget that there is a constitutional right to bear arms to defend ones own. Also, to add context, the largest land predator here is a fox. Bears and large cats are found across North America, so having a gun in a rural area makes more sense than it does here.

It's all about perspective  ;)

Australia, Canada, Russia all have big dangerous animals, not a problem there?

There is only one nation on earth that has regular mass shootings at schools, it's almost normal now.

Look at who is shooting and why... mostly delusional and mentally unwell kids... take away the guns and they will invent far more efficient ways of getting attention.

Here we have extremists and terrorists running around hacking people up in the street and blowing up trains and buses. Should we ban knives and machetes? Or religion? Or opinions and the ability to express them?Or public transport and free movement?

Personal comments about his hair colour now? Are you 12 years old?

Oh, and endorsing the assassination of a democratically-elected foreign head of state?

Odious comments. You should get a job with Sky.  >:( >:(

By the way, I noticed you sidestepped the point about Israeli passport holders. Now, what should I read into that?

No, they'll just play with something less dangerous like they do in this country.

Hence the background checks..

Oh, Darn! We gave the Psychopaths the "right to bear arms" too? ::)

A more civilised way to do it is to subcontract the right to defend yourself to those who do it professionally and know what they are doing. A few more hundred years of evolution and they'll get there.

Donald Trump has put back the Republican cause by a generation in just two short weeks. Most Americans had been waiting for years for a man with these kind of ideas to come along for nearly a decade. He was saying what most people thought, it was America's brexit moment, where you didn't have to listen to the liberal tree huggers calling you racist scum, or climate change deniers. Just vote for what you believed in, and this man would carry it through.
But he's turned out to be no more than a swaggering bully. His pathetic tweets are making him look like a fool. He is alienating almost every other world leader and Putin must think all his birthdays have come at once.

What a waste of a great opportunity. He's ruined it for his followers and it's hard to see how anyone with his policies could be voted in again.

i'm going to say it as nobody else has, do I really care what a stoopid American says, NO, does it affect me at the moment, NO, might it affect me, well I don't see me going to America, or buying anything from there, only problem I can see is the price of oil may rise, I can only hope that if it does the Arabs will produce more to offset the price to upset the yanks,.

Has brexit affected us, NO, WHY, because Europe needs us more than we need them, just go to Dover and watch the trucks rolling off every ferry every 90 minutes., must'ny forget all the Chinese containers landing at Felixstowe every day.
Don't believe the press. believe what you see.

Missed opportunity with a decent GOP POTUS, Senate, Congress and a majority in the Supreme Court. They could have rolled back much of the last 8 years big government, yuge deficit, low economic growth, socialist crap.

He's been POTUS for less than a month and his inexperience in running a country is plain for all to see.  If he's still sat in the Oval Office in 18 months time it will be interesting to see what sort of a President he is then with a bit of experience under his belt.

I hope for America's sake he pulls it together a makes a success of his Presidency, otherwise the liberal ' progressives ' will make sure that only 'professional' politicians can run for POTUS, which is kinda contrary to the 'American Dream'  :)
