Hi Guys
just taken me ages to work out how to post on here, then realised I was logged out doh! ;D
Had an omega 2.2 sport auto 150000 for about a year now. when I first got it engine electrics light came on but did not affect performance. cleaned out throttle body pipes but did not remove throttle body or breather sump pipe due to not having a torque wrench, plan to soon now I have parts numbers from here. great guides thanks. this has cured light coming on.
Couple of months ago after engine had warmed up engine started running really rough as though it was running on 3 cylinders. Changed spark plugs but found water in port nearest scuttle. seams to have fixed problem but reading through post on here it may be scuttle leaking, thoughts please.
Last few days engine has been running rough intermittently and a fair bit of white smoke from exhaust, have only been doing short journeys of around 1-2 miles and it has been cold, could it be rocker cover gasket going ? I plan to do a service next week, oil, oil filter, air filter and coolant change also considering changing throttle body and breather sump gaskets, also rocker cover gaskets and cleaning it all.
Am I heading in the right direction. what oil do you recommend and where's best place to get parts.

when you take off the oil filler cap is there cream on the cap ?

White smoke usually a sign of water being burnt.However they are smoky old things especially on such short journeys as you describe and in cold temperatures too.Unless you're losing coolant I wouldn't worry about the smoke too much,it's more than likely just condensation in the exhaust that's being burnt off.

Cam sensor, crank sensor and plug coil stick spring to mind. You could buy a £10 code reader off e-bay which might suggest where to start, though you say the engine management light has gone out now.

Or dry it out, and fix the leak, and not lose the sound deadening :)

Makes absolutely bugger all difference to cabin noise ;)

Also I have never noticed any cabin noise difference with removed ;) ;)

Hi guys thanks for the quick replies.
No mayo under filler cap of dipstick, engine light has not come back on since I changed spark plugs a couple of months ago. also coolant level has not changed, just checked foam under scuttle and is very wet, removed coil pack and have water in first port. so will sort scuttle and do service and clean throttle body properly as is a little gunked up. and see how she runs. does anyone have any preferences for oil make and viscosity was thinking magnatec. got a long run in a couple of weeks to wigan for training for new job so hope she makes it. thanks again for the quick replies. :y

Not magnatec. GM oil is competitivly priced... buy locally and it should be around £35 for 20l. Either 5w30 or 10w40.

Just ordered some GM oil from fleebay couldn't find it local. read about magnatec seam to cause more mayo it's great what advertising can do ;D. time to get hands dirty. :y
