Title: Happy Helfrods customer...
Post by: Doctor Gollum on 09 February 2017, 19:32:47
Popped in on the way home to collect supplies ready for sump seal change as I don't have much Vx grey goo left.

Found the tube of Loctite sealant that I required for a reasonable £6, and noticed that they also do 200ml self dispensing tubes, apparently for £7.50 according to the shelf ticket.

Went to the till expecting £26ish only to be confronted with £46 :o When I queried the amount, it transpired that the 200ml tubes are in fact £18 each :o

When I told the spotty yoof that the ticket said £7.50, he duly went to check... and came back all apologetic... they should be £18, but because they have loaded the shelf wrongly, I could have them for £7.50 each.

Credit where it's due :y that wasn't the outcome I was expecting, and more surprisingly, he made the offer without prompting or arguing 8)

So how many tubes did you end up buying, or should I say, are they out of stock since your visit.  ;D

A good result, I had a similar experience with them a few years back with some Auto Glym products ,give them their due the lower price was honoured.

I took a broken torx socket back once just wanted it to be exchanged. Due to a mix up between the back desk (where you swap broke tools) and the lady on the front desk I ended up with a full refund for a hellfrauds 150 piece kit!  ;D

Nice when that happens  8) :)

I once got a black and decker multi tool for £12 at Asda after it was wrongly labelled, should have been £36

It is, however, a complete myth that they have to honour the price on the shelf. You only enter the contract to buy after the goods have been rung through the checkout.

Most decent places will for the good of the company reputation  :y

Whilst you are correct, its not that clear cut, as you can fall foul of other laws if you falsely advertise a lower price...

I think most shops are pretty good, I know a couple of years ago the wife asked me to get the Christmas Turkey from Saintsbury's as they had reduced the price per kg for them after I had paid for it I realised they had charged me the full price, I went to the customer services counter & they refunded the full amount I had paid & told me to enjoy the Turkey

Got £23 reduced from my printer cartridges in John Lewis last week as they will pricematch anything identical whether in store or online... they had wanted £96, but Staples online was £73 inc vat.

Never hurts to ask ;)

Yep, I always do a bit of bartering my Bank, especially with Cash Deals, paying cash in or getting cash out, as you say never hurts to ask.  :y

......never managed to a single penny out of them though.  :(
