Sounds like a good offer Mr T :y

I don't think I could justify £420 pa though, and as I'd only really watch the films, probably cheaper for me to rifle through the bargain dvd bin at Tesco.

Do you ever get any NowTV discounts or Codes tunnie, I know there are some freebies floating around from time to time.

Whilst on the subject, any idea when Sky are going to go HD on the NowTV Boxes rather than 720p SD.?

Sometimes  :y

But we do more them as box deals, rather than codes. There was one at Christmas, but I forgot to give heads up here. Normally past ones have been like box and movies/ents pass for heavy discount for 6 months. Next time I see one doing the rounds, I'll give you a heads up. But more trust involved in these though, as I would need to buy them here then ship it to you  :y

The streams have been improved, we now offer the same bit rate but for less data usage. There is no immediate plans to go higher than 720p to be honest, the smooth streams on Boxes/TV devices go up to 5.5mbp/s and near enough HD  :)

Ok, cheers for any heads up on Discounts or Codes, yes there was was 2 x Months at Xmas, managed to grab those, in fact fairly sure I posted them on here.  :-\

Between my 3 Sons who are Football and Film Nuts, Mult Room blah, blah, reckon between them musr give Sky around 2K a year, :o so mugging here gets stuck with the NowTV Box.  ;D

Yea, on the HD side, didn't actually mean higher than 720p but when they going 720p HD, they dont actually stream at 720p HD on the Boxes, but at 720 SD, (DVD quality) ok its better than Freeview SD, but not quiet there yet. Just seems strange for this day and age.  :-\

Far as I'm aware this is a TV only discount, it does not mean that you need BB or phoneline.

Do you still want a code?

Cheers  :y

Thanks - I've not had Sky since the days when the TV box had to plug into a PSTN phone line. Yes code would be great seems good for 18 months  :y

Not sure they do the PSTN thing anymore, could be wrong, but most Sky Customer Service Staff will tell you need Sky BB or Phone with the TV Package, you dont we have this argument with them every year when we have cancel in order to get a better deal.  ::)

Set up my Boys have is BT BB directly and Sky TV, purely so they can have the BT Sports pack as well.

Also makes sense if you have Virgin BB, as you can hammer the Virgin Fibre BB with No Phone option down to around £18 pm.

Tunnie, let me know if any decent length Now trials come up, due to Amazon being a waste of space, I'm tossing up between NF and NTV - neither look that compelling for us (films, mostly), but as you know, often the reality might be better :)

Have you thought of joining a library? I go to my town centre library....dvd's £2 a pop....mine is 3 days for recent releases...week for older titles....I usually grab a few at a time....then I could be tempted to be a naughty boy  :-X

Our local library is not very good for DVDs I'm afraid. We're lucky to still have it, and DVDs obviously aren't their priority.

Before the councils had to cut back, I did used to get films from there, which probably explains why Blockbuster is no more ;D

i used to rent LP's from my Library in my Youth, they would want to inspect your Stylus from your Turntable before lending any out, then you would also have Stylus inspection every 3 months, anyone remember that.

Wonder if I rent DVD from them now whether they would want to inspect my Laser  :-\ ;D

Ok worth an ask.....wondering what my library will be like after the local council closes, iirc 11 of the 15 libraries shortly....even tho my council tax is 10.7% this year.... :-X

Trying to think, there are some new devices on the way. I'll ask around as I'm owed some favours  :)

Would it need to be the DTH box, or simple OTT streamer?

I was assuming there would be an app on my TV (Samsung, 2015 vintage), so its just a decent length trial contract I believe?

Think they'd probably want to inspect your Hard Drive in your case Kevin.  ;D

Yes there is an App for 2015 Samsung's - Let me see what I can do about a login/trial  :y

Hi Tunnie,

The above deal looks a real cracker, we're currently tied to BT 'til Aug '17, our deal is pretty good, fibre, BT TV inc sport and phone for about £45pcm but not as good as the one you show.

How often do these deals come up? and are they generally at a specific time of year (if that's not divulging company secrets)?

And no doubt end up with an ISO file that a Western Digital Tv box (or similar) knows how to deal with......not that I would know anything about it of course  ::) ;D

Normally around every quarter or so  :y

One at Christmas is usually a good one.

Was just trying to balance out how long its worth hanging onto BT once the price hike comes in at the end of the fixed contract period.
