Title: Talking of BMWs...
Post by: Doctor Gollum on 15 February 2017, 15:13:47
Can the current 1 series be jacked by the diff?

I don't really care if it should or not, it's just that some idiot has very thoughtfully abandoned one across the drive, and I am quite tempted to roll it down the hill... >:(

Cause any damage at all and you're in trouble unfortunately. However illegally/inconsiderately parked.  ;)

It wouldn't be the first 1 series to suffer diff issues in a few miles time...

Road is private, and it's now been there two days... What are the chances of getting a log book and keys before they come back ::)

If the road is private, is probably still maintained by the local Council, if thats the case the have the power to slap a 24 hour abandoned vehicle sticker notice on it and have it removed, whether they do or not is a different matter.

Lol... It's a '16 plate and in one piece... Might be worth a call to 101 to see if it's 'missing' :-\

Besides, it's a 120i M sport so you would have to be quite tragic to buynick it :D

What's the range of the keys? Hypothetically speaking of course...

Put a glossy magazine in front of each back wheel.
Hook a ratchet strap around the rear part of each wishbone.
Loop the centre of the strap around your toward.
Drag the bloody thing clear of your drive.
Problem solved.

Is it blocking your dropped curb or just the "other" bit of driveway?

It's square in the middle opposite... So I have to negotiate it which ever way I leave the drive >:(

Awaiting a call back from Sussex... Just in case it has been stolen... It appeared around 5am yesterday.

Not mine, I can confirm. Although I had thought about leaving mine in the crappest part of Birmingham should I be forced to take it back. I figure it would only take 1-2nights max for nature to take its course.  :y

That just makes it easier. If your BMW has a fixed towing eye at the back(after 18months of not doing recovery work, I can't remember :) ) then use that - do NOT use a screw-in tow eye. If it doesn't, then a semi-trailing arm will do.
