Does the 2.2 omega sport have the same suspension set up as the mv ? Or is the mv the only one with the stiffer suspension set up :-\
-
Same and no servotronic so actually pretty tidy to drive hard :y

Thanks , i did wonder .. i guess the more drivable manual are pretty rare . Seen an auto but would that strangle the performance of the 4 pot :-\
-
Yup. I have one. It's a bit like an Italian waiter.
Lots of noise, not much delivery.
-
Two missing pistons. :)
The Omega has six cylinders set in a 'V' formation. :)

The four pot auto is eager enough, but needs wringing out to make progress. Different animal to the V6 that's for sure :y

Never had a Sport but I thought they were standard GLS suspension. :-\

No servotronic? Was that only on V6s then? *goes searching the forums*

As said Chris, MV6 suspension, prodrive bootlip, prodrive front bumper, "silver" MV interior trim and seats, headlamp washers (no Hid`s)

6 cylinder models, including TD, got servotronic.

Interesting to know , i think the mv seats are the comfiest of them all plus the suspension set up is spot on :y

I only got rid of mine as a swap for my black Irmscher estate... With hindsight, not the best deal...

Mine first omega was a sport it used to go around a round about like it was on rails :y
-
Rocket it's not, comfy it is just like my old MV6 ;D
-
The sport was a run out model, a way of getting rid of MV6 parts quickly.
You'll find it has MV6 sports seats and suspension but 140 bhp rather than the MV6s 177 or 210
-
Nothing wrong with any of that ;)
-
no it was no rocket but it was no slouch either the 2.2 is underated imho no not as quick as a 3.2 but then that would be due to the fact it is a 2.2 :y

It's actually quite a rev happy engine... trouble is because most are autos no one actually thinks it's any good because they've not driven a manual one ::)
Add in the LSC and it's a capable car 8)
-
On cheap tyres a manual 2.2 can do skids in roundabouts :y :D

In Sweden anything can do skids on roundabouts ;D

Actually one of the quickest, and definitely the best, 2.2's I've driven was an Auto, and belonged to our resident Pikey Pensioner, AA.
-
i had two and tbh they were not too bad.....but after a drive with Essex Big Al and his 3.2 I could be persuaded ;D :y
-
The sport was basically a budget MV6 to shift the last of the line cars, I've never driven a 2.2 or sport but guess the handling makes up for any lack in power ?

All tosh...
It was sold as an established part of the range... suspension, whilst LSC, has different front spring weights to both the MV6 and the other 2.2 models... hardly a parts bin special. The 2.2 isn't lacking in power, it simply requires a bit more winding up. As for handling, cars with either LSC or Plod heavy duty are far better to drive hard than the Elite... that said, a sorted and well set up Omega is a rewarding car to drive regardless of spec/engine.

Whilst it can be made to get going - I tried reasonably successfully for about 6 miles to keep a Tuscan honest when I was driving tunnie's old shed, though he was being unlucky with traffic, and was being a pussy in the roundabouts - 140bhp in a 1.7t tank really is a bit under powered for enthusiastic driving, even if you are always wringing its neck. Thats most certainly not saying it can't be fun though.
-
I ran my 2.2 for 11 years, mine was in manual form so bit more fun than Auto's. My replacement VW has a lot to live up to!
2.2 is more than enough go for the average driver, but the 3.2 is just effortless. My 2.2 always would idle far better than 3.2, the DBW V6's are a bit lumpy at idle. :(
I've still got my 2.2, but it's SORN and been unused for over 6 months, I think I'm going to have to donate it to the fire station in very near future. :'(

Yes, they don't like being left unused outside.
