Title: Faith restored !
Post by: Vmax on 31 July 2008, 10:18:08
Got back to my miggy yesterday, had a bit of a toys out of the pram pram moment when I spotted my bumper smashed in and rear lights all over the floor. After jumping up and down for a bit I noticed a piece of paper under my windscreen wiper with name and contact details of the person who reversed into me - I gave her a call, yup even the correct details were left!!  :) :yI went from being more than a little peed off to really quite cheered.....

Heartwarming to know there's still a few honest people about. :y
Sadly though, it doesn't happen too often. :(

Glad to hear there are still decent people out there.  I watched someone in a Porsche Cayenne reversing into an old ford in a multi-storey car park.  Completely destroyed the front of the car and drove off.  That person could obviously afford the insurance bill and the poor person with the older car will have no doubt had to struggle to pay for the repairs.  I only wish I had got the number plate.

Iwas sitting in sainsburys car park on tuesday whena bloke in a new mondeo reversed into the back of my car.He obviously didnt realise I was in the car as he put it in gear and started to drive off.
I jumped out arms waving etc; asked him what sort of an ****hole drives into peoples cars and then drives off.
His reply was "its not damaged" to which I replied how the break would you know, you havent even looked ,you rather moron.
His mrs then started to turn the taps on so I thought I ahd better leave it there, but at least he was seriously embarresed by all the bystanders shaking their heads at him for being one of those people we all hate. -bump it and leg it merchants. >:(

Driving off and not leaving your details even when no-one else is in the other car is now considered failing to report an accident!  :o

Coppers will chase if there is damage  :y

What a selfish country we are becoming Albitz: a year or so ago my parked Miggy was reversed into by a 'lady' (I use the word in the gender sense only!) in a 4x4 whose towball punched a hole in my front bumper, crushed-flat the power-steering steel pipes and smashed my NSF fog light.....when politely challenged by my 80 year-old Mother (whom happened to be sitting in the car at the time) the 'lady' called her a "f***ing busy-body old hag" and pushed her backwards against my car`s bonnet, and then promptly drove off without leaving any details and whilst shouting a torrent of abuse at my Mom all the way out of the car-park; leaving me with very shaken and upset Mother and a large repair bill. >:(

My faith in human nature took a BIG dent that day too! :'(

I was parked on Woolworths car park and saw a car reverse into another car, breaking his rear light, and then drive off. When the owner returned I gave him the make/model and reg. etc of the offending vehicle and got no thanks at all. He just replied, " I probably won't bother to challenge him about it." He then got in his car and drove off! ::)

Ah well -- they drive and park by touch out there. Doubt you will see many unscathed motors !

Travel further South to Malta and you will see why most bless themselves with a prayer to the Holy Mary before travelling in a car or bus!  It must have some affect as accidents, although high, are not as many as you expect when you consider motorists drive on the left (legally correct), right and centre at speed (especially the taxis) without much regard for any form of "Highway Code"! :o :o

Great fun to watch though, like when a car ran into my school bus as he thought he had the right of way but didn't!

Still, with the Holy Mother watching over you there is little risk, as the man filling up cars at the garage under our "Harper House" on Crucifix Hill, just up from the Grand Harbour Customs House, proved every day.  He smoked constantly whilst doing so!!  Nothing went bang, much to my amazement at the time! :o :o :o

In Italy the same Holy Mother watches over them, and boy don't they test their faith in her!!  Mind you so does my daughters Italian husband whilst driving in the UK; his car has dents, scraches and cosmetic parts missing all over it, and it is only a "56" reg! ;D ;D

It is in our Mediterranean blood! ;D ;D :D ;)
