Title: Brittish Gas
Post by: Mr Skrunts on 02 August 2008, 00:56:28
Heard the news of the 35% incease yesterday, and then the report of the £1Bn proffit this year followed by reports from angry customers.

On the news they said investers would be happy with the £1Bn Proffit.

Maybe not looking at the graph.

Looks like a spike as the news was realeased.

This is the cost of having to buy our gas from the world markets and import into the country at the highest prices without adequate storage facilities to build stocks up when prices are low.  :'( :'(

This is of course due to poor management if a customer, but great management if you are a share holder!! :o :o

The Government should instruct the gas companies to invest far more of their current profits into improving the storeage and distribution system, as indeed they should with the water boards! >:(

I think any company that makes a £1Bn profit is making an enemy of itself with thier own customers.

Regardless the increase, they will aim to maintain or beat that £1Bn profit,

Of that what percentage goes back to the Government as tax.  Why dont they pas the proffits on to the users that buy they stuff.  Why cant brittish Gas sell it to us as cheap as thier oppostion does.  Like Gas selling Electric ceaper than the YEB, and the YEB selling Gas cheaper the BG.    Stupid.

Thay can pass on discounts to help make 3rd party companies a profit, but they wont discount it Joe Public.    Brittain Gone Mad Yet Again.

It is because they are now private not state owned companies who trade on the "free" markets of the world, with North Sea Gas now in rapid decline.  I agree there should be greater competition, but all we are seeing is ALL the energy companies raising their prices after one is bold enough to do so as the prices escalate with the likes of Russia now having us over a preverable barrel!  >:( >:(

If they removed the discounts for their commercial customers then the prices we pay for goods and services would rise significantly, with jobs lost, and that helps no-one in the end! :(

We, the public, just can't win, and it is going to get worse.  The days of "cheap" fuel is over. :(
