Hi
I am looking at getting a Omega Estate (been without a Omega for too long now). I seem to be able to find plenty of 2.2 petrol ones. Are the 2.2 easy to look after maintenance and other jobs, like a 2.0ltr. Also looking at 2000 + models, will a code reader be any good on these? I will be wanting to tow a 750kg trailer with it aswell.
Hope someone can help. I have had the 2.5 both in estate and saloon, the other half has a 2.0ltr Estate now which seems ok to drive.
Thanks for any advice.

2.2 is a pleasure to work on, so much space. Real easy engine to work on :y
You will need a code reader :)

Thanks for the info. As you about the space in engine bay, the wifes is great to work around. Just heard lots of stories about the 2.2 petrol being rubbish. I heard about the codes sometime being hard to read, do you have any ideas on code readers, or will any code reader work I am looking at 2000 year models. Will it tow a 750kg trailer OK?

Yes we had one easy to work on , also had a 2.6 saloon not a lot of difference in MPG.

We towed that weight easily with the estate.

The 2.2 is fussy with code readers, but genuine ones should be fine :y
Its a bit underpowered for the weight of the car, but just about adequate.

Had my 2.2 for about 3 years now. In that time all i have had to do to it was change the coil pack, cam sensor, cam cover gasket and obviously wishbones and droplinks.
The only thing i would say that its a touch heavy on fuel round town 17-19 on a good day ;D

I have a 1995 Jeep Cherokee XJ 4.0ltr straight 6, at the moment so MPG I get from a Omega has got to be better. It's great to hear good things about the 2.2 petrol, as there seems to be plenty around for sale at the moment.
Thanks everyone for advice.
