Guys, before I go to the steps of manufacturing a solution, I thought I would ask on here first.
On my MFL, the glovebox lid rattles as it does not fit tight when closed. The 2x rubber buffers are present, but are not touching the lid. It is almost like they either need to be twice the size, or that there should be some sort of inserts where the catches sit.
Has anybody else come across this, and more importantly, fixed it?

Check that the hinges, and latch are in good condition. If they are, buy some self-adhesive closed cell foam thick enough to tension the lid so that it doesn't rattle. If the gap is very small, then the soft part of stick-on velcro might be enough.

It all looks in good condition and the closed cell foam is exactly what I was thinking of. To be precise, I have a couple of packs of the padding that goes behind number plates, so was going to make something out of that.

Also, is the damper knackered, as I thought that was supposed to help as well?

I believe the damper is okay, I will double check it when I am back with the car though.
It is like the rubber buttons are missing, even though they are there physically. There is at least 5mm of movement when the door is latched.

In which case, that's far too much, my money is on mechanism.

What part of the mechanism do I need to check? I may get pics if need be and post up?

Glove box out, remove the damper and undo the screws around the inside face cover then comes off.
Might also need to knock out the hinge pins, but can't recall :-\
No moving parts on dash structure though.
