Yes, I do know what it's called now, after Churchill did the dirty on us all those years ago, but I still regard it as paying for our criminally ill-maintained roads.
So, the question is: I received my RFL reminder in the post today and wanted to know if I paid online today, would I beat any likely increases in tomorrows Budget and am I allowed to do so without losing any days off the RFL? The DVLA site doesn't help, that I can see.

You can only buy 14 days in advance I thought?

I believe so. Certainly there's no retrospective grab once you've paid.
However I thought all hikes in tax in the budget took effect on 1st April in the given year?
Edited for RS comment, he's right, you would lose the days doing it now I think.

Mine came today, Ron, and I have just done it online. No problem.
For your info, TB, it states on the form....'Do not apply for your vehicle tax before the 5th day of the month before the vehicle tax is due to start' :y

Just this second done it - no problems (apart from the cost!) and the new licence starts 1st April - phew!
Thanks for your help.
