DTM Taxi Services. Highly recommended. Matters not that it's unsociable hours, and a miserable, grim, wet, windy night.
Massive thanks to Marks DTM Calib, a bit above and beyond, and massively appreciated :y

Does he do airports? ;)

Does he do electricity? ;)

Yes. Its being topped up with electricity as we speak.
See, this is why electric cars aren't viable - they might get you to your destination, but doing a return journey is asking too much ;D
-
Our local up market and everyday taxi firm is Arrow Taxis.
They run a fleet of mainly E class Mercedes, and they provide an excellently reliable service. No electric cars for them! :D :y
-
The firm I work for, has a fleet of E classes.....but you pay extra if you want one....£10 extra....tis all...
Trip into town....£6 or £16, Id take the £6 option...
Heathrow £75 or £85, Id have an E class every time :y
-
One chap at Gatwick Cars has a black Tesla Model S... completely ruined by having the logo plastered down all 17' of it ::)
Do like them though...

As a taxi ? Blimey. Or even a driver with high end car service, blimey :o

Depends very much on what the alternative to the E class was, the company we use at work for airport transfers has E class Mercs and Superbs, the Superb is SO much more comfortable than the Stuttgart Taxi in the rear.

Not a worry, should have saved you at least one bruise from Mrs TB :y

Needs to clear £1,600 a month just to pay for itself...

She was remarkably chilled over it all when you dropped me off. I think because, although stressful (for her), she actually didn't have that far to go.
As predicted, she made me drive home, mind ;D
Thanks again :y

The firm used to have a fleet of Superb's, until the local Skoda dealer tried to rip them off.....you would think the dealer would give a discount when a customer says something along the lines of "How much for 10 of them?" . But when the dealer replied "You pay the screen price" they walked away and refused to buy another Skoda again. Hence the E classes now....MB give them discount!
So the alternative to an E class, could be anything the council will give a license to...which is just about any car, as long as it has 4 passenger doors and not a convertible......could be a bmw 5 series .... or how about a trip to airport in shitron C1 :-\ or Honda Jazz :-\ or whatever driver/owners use.....even a Mondeo 1.6TD estate ::)
-
To be fair, the rear seating in the Mercs is so bad (probably only beaten by the Insignia with its lack of headroom) I would probably take the Mundeno :y
-
Insignia Sports Tourer is much better for rear head room, like wise the E Class estate ;)
The disappointment with the E Class is that noone bothers to order the decent seats >:(

Al, do they not come with decent seats as standard?

No. Fully adjustable memory seats are a hefty option, so people don't bother with them... utter stupidity akin to buying a brand new Astra with the standard lights before you have driven it in the dark... only to find that the £1000 AFL xenons are worth every single penny but will cost £4000 to retro fit ::)

Its Mercedes Benz. They don't use designers, and haven't for about 20yrs. They use people who check what parts will fit.
Its all arse about face with MB, which is why their cars are so poor and fall way below expectations :(

Back to original post, to put my money where my mouth is, DTM taxi services booked for later :P

I need to get an air freshener for the car and some crappy seat covers plus an ID badge with a photo on that looks nothing like me.

Don't forget to jet wash the mats and remove the airconditioning fuse when you put them back in the car...

I don't understand the logic behind this....When the cab is sold it will probably have near 300k miles on it...be totally knackered...
Un marked/worn seats are really going to help sell it/make it worth more.....not!
-
It's more about collecting the piss and puke ;)
That said, the interior of every car I used as a taxi looked as new inside when done... even my 135k mile 2 year old Seat 8)

Unless you have vinyl seat covers, that aint going to work....as it will just soak through.....
-
The really cheap covers contain more plastic than a lego factory :D

I swear its those bloody passport machines or the fact the council still accept photos of me that are 6 or 7 years old....a good printer on photo paper works a treat!.... ::) ;D

Jest in truer never word said a, ::)
I actually had to give directions to a driver collecting a passenger from the North Terminal... I mean, ffs ???
Normally I am keen to be helpful, but two things stood out... firstly he was at the Shell garage the other side of the North Terminal entrance, (and was expecting the elderly couple to walk out to him)... secondly, he had dropped them off two weeks earlier... at the North Terminal :-X
-
Once again, DTM Taxis provided an excellent service, including food :y
However, his ID looked nothing like the driver (a really dodgy looking character), so I refused to pay, following recent advice on here :P ;D

Mercedes do not come with decent anything as standard. If they could figure out a way of charging you extra for the air the engine ingested driving it off the delivery truck, they would. This has been SOP for German marques for decades.
