I was having an ok evening, spirited drive home from work in newly WIM'd MV6, stopped off at the chippy. Whilst waiting to be served i was aware of 2 men looking at my car, not unusual. As i walked out of the shop to get into my car they stepped in front of me, one of them said
'Thats too big and powerful a car for a little girl to be driving, best hand over the keys'
I just turned round and walked back into the shop, where another kind chap offered to walk me back to the car.
I felt really threatened and intimidated by these idiots, wasn't even sure they were joking.
I'm used to men commenting on me driving my 'husbands big car' and telling me i will never get petrol in if i pull up on the wrong side of the pump, but this took the biscuit!!!
To add insult to injury i am 30 and 5'8", so hardly a little girl!!! >:( >:(
Any other ladies experienced anything like this or do i just look totally wrong for my car?? :(

tossers >:(

Sorry to hear this Ljay :(
Its a sad world we seem to live in these days >:(
I hope your not too shaken up by this incident :-/
-
Sweary words are sometimes not effective enough, whilst a swift kick in the chucks adds a certain emphasis on your comments..... :o
-
Maybe you don't look strong enough to drive, what with your gymnastic physique :P
Joking aside, they must know it was intimidating, so are self-abusers who should be man enough to pick on people of their own gender.
-
Sorry to hear that, pleased yo walked back into the shop though, rather than trying anything yourself, you just never know. :o
On a lighter note I Like your other halfs new name. ;D ;D ;D

That would be my normal response, decided for once in my life to keep schtum and walk away! Didn't fancy my chances with 2 of them if it had turned nasty.
was a bit shaken, but now really angry! >:(
-
report it Ljay, even if you don't have a descriptin, the local Ossifers may be able to keep a look out.
It may happen to someone else,
Couple of a*s wipes, if you ask me, but you never know nowdays >:(

True... Discretion being the better part of valour, and all that... :y

My suggestion was to walk to shop doorway, mobile out, 999, " HELP, there are 2 intimidating men stopping me get to my car" in a loud voice!
sure that would get a sorry, didnt mean to upset you, and make em think twice for next time, but if drunk ar53h0les, probably wouldnt remember in the morning >:(

tossers should be hung by their nuts >:( >:( Cant stand bullies of any kind
-
Sorry to hear this Ljay, H21 is right you did the right thing. :-/
-
My goodness Ljay; that must`ve been very unsettling....I`d also have found it frightening and would almost certainly have called the police given the circumstances. :'(
I haven`t experienced anything similar (mercifully), but can well imagine how upsetting it must be.
It`s certainly not your 'fault' for driving the Miggy or for your doing-so appearing 'wrong' in the eyes of such a bunch of menacing, small minded idiots.....I do hope you wont let this experience worry you unduly.
:y
-
iirc, she has had similar driving my debadged one.
"rather hell love, whats that?"
to which she replied to the chavved up saxo drivers..
"bigger than yours" and drove off :)
always worries me when she said, "can I borrow yours, there might be boy racers about" ;D
-
It does make me question myself a bit!! A few years ago he would have got a clack, but i'm going soft in my old age!
On reflection maybe they were just intimidated by a woman in a big car, in their eyes i should drive a fiesta.
When i had my first meega they were like hens teeth around here and i got loads of comments, mainly good natured. this was the first time i felt threatened.
Didn't see the point in the police, if they had been challenged they would have said they were joking and made me look like a neurotic woman!
-
Sorry to hear that Mrs B. I hope it was some sort
of il informed joke by a couple of morons, but it does
not sound like it. Attempted car jacking you could say?
You must inform the police. Must. I would have thought
tho, that if they where going to do that, a more
Expensive car would be a better target. Dont want
to dis the mig but you know what i mean.
Try not to worry about it. Ttfn.
-
Sorry to hear about this incident, but glad all worked out in the end.
There are some toss pots around but you handled it well.

-
if you were gay or an immigrant, they could easily be charged with hate crimes,so maybe they could/should be charged with hate crimes against women. :-/
-
A total pair of tossers. Hope your ok and might be worth a phone call to the police just so they can log it :) ;)

Bloody hell, was that at Vickie road chippy?

No broughton chippy! Would have expected it more in viccy road though!!

Sorry this happened to you Ljay. U did the right thing. Quite definitely social rejects and they know it otherwise wouldn't have tried such a thing.
I'm afraid I can be stupid in these situations. Someone tried to mug me once and I somehow became determined to keep my purse, somehow grabbed both his hands to stop him reaching for a knife (after he told me to hand over my purse).., and somehow must have grown a third hand cause I distinctly remember slapping him in the face at the same time and yelling for someone to call the police. But my actions were not the safest (and would never have reacted this way if I hadn't gone into auto pilot cause in my purse was all the money i had for the week) so I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
But lol, being safe and sound, it does have a kindof funny side to it too altho again, I'd recommend it to no-one,

I hate my ex wife.....does that count as a crime. ;D
No offence but any woman (lot of blokes come too that) who stood there ground and ""gave as good as they got"" is just asking for serious trouble....best thing you could have done is head back for the shop as you did. :y
On a lighter chauvinistic note i still say women should know there place....passenger seat or in the back breastfeeding the kids.
These suffrajets have a lot too answer for :D

idiots.
here's a plan.... let's all pile up there and hang around the chippy for Ljay to point them out to us :D
and collectively..... accost them with the phrase....
"best hand over the house keys, they're probably too civilised for neanderthals like you.."
failing that, i'm going to be in the region in 2 weeks myself... I'll be glad to do it . I'd relish the opportunity i fact.... >:(
(coming back up to visit friends and family in Gwynedd/Conwy in 3rd week of august )

No. The police would take very dim view of this. It's them that would have looked foolish, especially if a few passers-by had stopped to look. Never, ever be afraid to call the cops, that's what they're for, and, if they were serious, you may have stopped another lone female having to suffer their attentions.
Hmm.......that sounded a bit too sensible for me...
rather C*NTS!!!!
That's better :)

A sad reflection of todays society... Just dont pick on our L-jay or I will break their legs if I find them ;D
Sorry you had this L-jay... no respect anymore.
-
That's frickin outrageous, glad you're ok though. I'm picturing a similar scenario. Many service stns. have parking out the back. Imagine if we were on an OOF meet & the rest of us drove our Migs onto the forecourt, & some of us big ugly tinkers hopped out....playtime! Might make 'em think next time. ::)

what a pair of idiots, there are women of all sizes out there driving vans ,lorries ,buses , glad your ok maybe few people should step in front of them, and say
'Thats very big and powerful mouth for a very little brain to be controlling, and then teach them some respect
-
Thanks for the support guys! :y
Don't think we will stoop to their level on this occasion, fun as it may be!
A few years ago i would have given as much as i got, but too nervous of society these days!
Made me a bit wary, going out on my own again tonight though! :'(

Don't blame you for being wary LJay, but good on you for not letting it get to you. Glad you came out of it ok, could have been a lot worse.

did you find out what car they where driving?
If it was a Ford Focus or something should have made some comments about how inadequate their engines were.
And if they wanted to prove something, see you at the lights!

i promise i'll leave some small bits for you.....

I have just come back onto the Forum after being off for a couple of days and just picked up on this thread.
I am really sorry Ljay to hear what you went through and I know how frightening it must have been. You did all the right things, but you should have called the Police immediately and given a discription of the suspects. This was a threatening, harrassing action of a lone female by two males, which in itself is a criminal offence. >:( >:(
They could also have been after your car, as now more cars are taken by acquiring the owners keys by violence, burlary of your house, or simple hijacking. Modern security systems, even on our miggy's demand you require the key to start the vehicle and disengage all the immobilizing systems.
After all said and done it is still NOT too late to report this to your local Police Station and I would encourage you to do so, as it will at least give officers pre-warning of potential repeats of this incident, and if they have the descriptions of the men the patrols will maintain a watchful eye out for them. For the sake of other women please do this. ;)
It is great that no injury of yourself occurred and your car is still safely in your possession. :y :y :y It is the shock of it that I know can affect you later, but I hope you will soon put this behind you. ;)
Kind regards,
Lizzie
