God i hate this car >:( >:(
Anyway over the past few days i have noticed a wet patch on the drive. I checked the coolant and yes it had lost a bit. Owell need a hbv another job.
Just had it to the list >:(
Went to work this morning and as it was dry i thought i would try and see if it was the hbv leaking it wasnt it looks like the 2 pipes that go into the cabin behind the dash are both wet with coolant also its directly above the wet patch on the floor.
The hbv felt dry so i dont think its that.
Any ideas please also if i turn the heating off will it stop leaking until i can get it fixed.

Key thing is to try a different temperature setting rather than turning the panel off ;)
it usually splits lower down the body, so top stays dry.
Local dealer if they have stock, ebay if not...

Could be a split hose or the matrix leaking. if it's any consolation the radiator on my car had a split in the top near the battery when I bought it but very little coolant actually comes out. but to add insult to injury the water pump has now given up and with the aid of the crank pulley the coolant is all over the bottom of the engine compartment and pretty much everywhere else too..

Paul... those two pipes you refer to I think are ihe in and out from the heater matrix. The hoses fit to the tubes at the bulkhead with unusual clips. I can't explain too good in words, but check they are on correctly. I say this, because recently I took them off to blow through the matrix, and did not fit one fully on......it leaked.
Check the Maintenance section under cooling and you will find good pictures explaining what I am talking about. Hope this helps and its a simple fix :y

Just popped out and had another look, no splits in pipes bit wet aound connector so i presume connectors haddit

Coolant will drain down the pipe from the hbv ;) connector unlikely to leak unless disturbed ;)

i bought a genuine hbv, didnt last long. The word of wisdom from here was that it had been on the shelf just as long.
Second one fitted still ok so far. luck of the draw?

Yup. I bought 2 from Vauxhall Direct in January. First one leaked, second didn't. I took the first back for a replacement. Annoying, because they are a fag to change.

If you have bought a genuine part and it fails in the warranty period then VX will stump up the labour costs

I had the same issue a while back where I didn't refit one of these connectors properly and it popped off after a few days. ::)
They're like plumbing push fit fittings and have to be pushed home with a satisfying 'clunk'. :y
