I've owned my current Omega Elite Estate for around 11years, thought it was time for a change, the posts on this forum have helped somewhat in making my choice so today I purchased a Mercedes E class estate.. It's a 3ltr oil burner and its pretty nippy :D
I'll shortly have my Omega up for sale in a few weeks if anyone is interested..
I've enjoyed my time on this forum and don't intend to stop contributing where I can..

Smart 8) hopefully with fully electric front seats :y
-
Nice choice :y
E-Class is probably one of the best Estates around I think :)
-
Looks nice! :y
-
Very nice.😉
-
Very nice indeed :y
I would also take the route to an E Clas Merc if ever the Omega goes :y

Its a mix of electric and manual, I tried to find one with the memory seat option but there hard to find. Unlike the Omega elite with every option ticked there is so much in the Mercedes that are optional extras and probably expensive ones at that.

So that is still the case then. Interesting. I had brand new company C Class Merc estate back in 1997 and I was amazed that I had to fit my own radio. No radio was supplied, although the speaker system was installed. It was like going back to my first brand new Ford Escort Mk1, when you had to fit your own radio. But then no position in the dashboard was available for one.
So pay a premium for a Merc and then have to fork more for the toys. But I would have one anyday ;)

They don't seem to do model with all the toys already installed (unlike the Elite) I expect the price would put people off. This one has a lovey big sat nav screen with voice recognition but no reversing camera, again that would appear to be an option, you can get one fitted but there around £400.
-
About £41000 when new, so lack of toys is......well.....fickin ridiculous.

Some inside pics... No gear stick is a bit strange, its all on a stalk on the steering wheel. Handbrake is foot operated, not that I use mine much..

Those blue efficiency models are pretty good. Over 700 miles from a tank on a run.......according to Mercedes.
-
The interior looks as good as the exterior. :y
I am starting to drawl! ;D
-
Hmmm, I've heard that's what you do, often! :P
Ron.

Most diesels will crack that :y
Done couple of 720's to fuel light on with VW, current tank was 410 to half a tank on a run up norf. Sadly now I'm back on the commute it's dropped back off.
Think if I did whole tank of motorway, could get 850 :)
-
If it's the 7 speed box then will be pretty good, my 220cdi was the older 5 speed... 35 around town, 46 on a decent run :y V6 diesel will drink around town but more effortless on an open road :y
-
Lovely looking motor, enjoy. :y

Yep...my CLS 500 was the same. I can't say I liked the idea but I did get used to it.

;D ;D I will just agree I'm from Texas; it is far better than saying I mistyped it :D ;D

Urgh, its one of them polluting diesels, about time they banned them, does it have full Europe sat nav, or just the old 1940 map which stops at Stalingrad. :D
No E63 at the dealers. ;D

Yes, still have my 928..

Unfortunately a diesel, hard to find a reasonably sized petrol, the E63 is just too much but they are fun. Been driven around the track at Mercedes World at Brooklands by one of their drivers. They do go...
-
A Mercedes Lizzie?Surely a lady of your quality deserves a Bentley Turbo R which iirc you were tempted by at the time you bought your Omega.Nice looking car though Mr Weds.I've been in BMW's with that stalk type gear selector.
-
Very nice indeed. I've fancied these since they came out.
What engine size is it?
Regards
Steev

Its an E350 3ltr Diesel around 264 BHP, never been a diesel lover but i was surprised how quiet it is, very smooth.. And quick :)

Looks good Pete. :y....sad to see the estate go though :)

......
Mine does nothing like that ...... 400 at best

A lovely car ..... certainly a contender as a replacement for my R Class ...... not sure they're heavy enough for my caravan though .....
Is the interior proper leather? Or Merc's finest Artico?

I believe its Mercedes finest fake leather... Very hard to tell them apart..

E Class will tow 2100 kgs ;)
Only point to mention, the diesel V6 requires adblue.

Lizzie would love a Turbo R with the engine from the Mallard. :y :y

Good question, normally bought from garages at a reasonable price* on that car, it is within the service schedule... Which probably means £££ :-\
* reasonable price in this case is probably more than you might voluntarily pay for synthetic piss...

Surely it would be more environmentally friendly to simply piss in the tank after 8 pints of 'mindf*ucker' super strength and then drive home? :)
-
......and cheaper. :)

No I hadn't been told, but it doesn't come as a surprise.. We used to use it in our boilers at work, we called it urea, it smelled of cows piss, lovely to work with :(
I suppose Adblue has a nicer ring to it...
-
As Dr G said I think it gets topped up at service time. My mate has a VW Touran and that's what happens, he also gets a free top up if required from any VW dealer. :y
I'm not sure how long this arrangement lasts though. I think he has it on a service plan. :-\
-
Reminds me of 2 stroke oil I used to add to my bikes.

Why is it necessary? What is it's purpose?

It converts the harmful NOx into nitrogen and steam..

Adblue is around £15 a gallon. That would last ages.

As a maximum. My caravan has a gross weight of 1865 kg & don't particularly want to tow weight for weight.

Around 70p a litre, from pumps at garages, couldn't tell you wat the 10L drums cost from garage, think they about £10.00.

I was more than pleased with it ..... & they came and removed the seat from the car, took it away & less than 24 hours later was returned to the car :y :y You can only tell as the new vinyl is not quite as shiny

I want to say I paid under £15 for 10L or ~2gal last time. Lasts about 7500 miles, so topping up at a service is unlikely to work for me with service intervals of ~18k

Hardly breaking the bank at 0.2p/mile. My colleague gets his from Amazon at £13/10l with free delivery (on Amazon prime service).
