Title: 30.2mpg over 3847 miles in a 2.2
Post by: terry paget on 02 April 2017, 19:44:46
I bought X807, a petrol manual Omega CDX 2.2, via e-bay last July for £190, to replace a similar car that had been crashed into and written off. After sorting it I handed it over to my son Jonny. He brought it back last Thursday for me to MOT it. I checked the fuel consumption figure on the computer, it read 30.2mpg over 3847 miles. Not bad, is it, for a 2.2?

Certainly much better than my 3.2 ;D  ;D

Was that mileage urban or motorway? :-\

I'd personally be disappointed by that, as the 2.5 even with my driving wasn't far behind.  But although the 2.2 does eventually get going, it does need to be pushed quite hard, hitting economy.

Yes, I get between 30 and 31mpg on my 2.5s on Fridays, which involve 2 80 miles motorway runs, but over the week with running around town this falls to 27mpg. I suppose all I am observing is Jonny doing a fair number of long runs in his 3400 miles.

I could never get my Senators above 25mpg, so things are looking up. Or may it just be I am driving more slowly?

You're lucky.

Even if I drive very economically mine does about 19 mpg around town.  ;D ;D

Yes my Senator certainly returned better mpg,s than that ;)
