Skip to 3:05 for a crash test at 40 mph whilst not wearing a seat belt with airbag deployment.

Thank you, Al, that just about says it all.

well done gollum, good distraction from your stupid , wrong and dangerous post claiming that not plugging in the seatbelt will disable the air bags (IT WON'T, IN ANY CAR).
i always wear my seatbelt and as i said in all my posts on it everyone should.
incidentally did you notice in your link that the air bags deployed EVEN THOUGH the seat belts weren't plugged in? ::)
normally when in a hole the advice is to stop digging so i am surprised your have got the jcb out. just to try and fill this one in:
NEVER assume that not plugging in your seat belt will disable the air bags. This applies to working on the car or driving with objects on the air bags or with infants in the passenger seat. You could get killed.

You wish.
Incidentally, you will note that the crash tests are just that, tests designed to demonstrate and investigate what might happen under certain circumstances and all in the luxury of a controlled environment.
Anyhoo, Dave should probably watch the video ;)
