Went to Blackpool last night, and just nudged the big 200k :)
(31.7 mpg, at legal ish speeds both ways)
-
just shows these cars are like duracell batteries, they just go on and on and on and on and on. ;D ;D ;D
-
Congratulations Jon for crossing that line, which I always believe is a positive sign of how the car has been maintained! :y :y
More cars, if maintained could also last at least as long. ;)
-
mine is a mere babe in comparison at 106,000 miles
-
you've just done 5 laps of the earth!!!!!!!
nice goin :y

mines a new born then 49600 miles :D :D
-
Well done now your mission should you choose to accept it is 300,000 :y
-
Nice one -- great to catch the moment in a pic too :y
-
Theres a mig at the scrapyard round corner from me with 235,000 ish I think on the clock! (2.5 diesel)
The inside still looked as it should! These cars just eat up the mileage without any fuss! ;D
I THINK it was there due to rust, as it was pritty bad looking on the outside! :-/
I remember when I worked at a car garage, me and my boss went to look at a volvo estate (for us to buy, and then sell on)... Anyway, we walked away when we saw the speedo showing over 400,000!!!! :o
-
according to my local dealer, they were still servicing some tractor taxis with over 500k on clock until recently
-
you've just done 5 laps of the earth!!!!!!!
nice goin :y
Actually it is EIGHT laps of the Earth at 25,000 miles (24902 at the Equater to be precise) per lap = 200k ;).
-
MIne is at the 114,000 mark now well i think, i have had her from nov 2004 and she had 74,000 on the clock.
-
Fair play, thats some miles!!!!

I know HC, I'm in that kind of mood today!! :D :D ;)

local elite 2.5 v6 taxi that has 410k!
looks immaculate and very little rust just on the window seals none on the arches which is unusual

My old 2.2DTI elite estate had 237,000 on the clock when i sold it and it's still going strong. A friend of mine has just sold his pug 406 HDI with 381,000 miles on. If you keep them well serviced they will go on and on and if you dont then they go bang ;)

Thats true to a degree I guess yes, however the 2.0dti diesel pumps have a habbit of failing around 110-135k. And the 2.2dti pumps visually look the same! (Dont know if they are). For that reason, If I got a diesel Omega, I would have to go with the BMW engine
Guess you get the odd bad ones though here and there!

My 2.5 TD is on 250K now...
It was serviced reguararly by the guy who owned it fr 10 years... then they bloke we bought it off did 5k in it without servicing or anything..
ive done 10k and really should get round to learning how to maintain cars... (dont worry the local garage has changed the oil 3 times during that 10k)
However condition= generally quite poor... inside and out both quite tatty. I dont care though. my last car was imaculate and i hated it. This i love.. :D

My 2001 is on 74,000 miles. 2003 is on 61,000 miles. Hopefully with good care they will have many more years of life in them :) :y
-
Nice one Jon, a credit to you matey, Just shows what they are cable of of when properly maintained. :y :y :y

I once got my telephone number in my work van. I had to take a picture. Obviously wont post the picture.

I know they do cos i havea vectra sat here thats done 116,000 miles and the pump has gone that but the 2.2 DTI pumps dont seem to and the vauxhall guy thats looks aftrs my cars has only seen one 2.2 DTI with a shot pump and that was on a vectra that i'm breaking at the mo and thats only because some oil seals went and pulled oil back to the fuel tank and then got sucked back to the pump which in turn killed it.
-
My 2 cars dont add up to that mileage between them.
63,000 on the GLs and 84.500 on my Elite...... Flipping eck, I have managed 500 miles in 3 months, PMSL 175 of those were done yesterday to Mablethorpe and back. Hehe ::) ::) :-/ :y :y :y
-
I feel somewhat inadequate with only 101,000.
(nearly 102 though)! ::)
-
a huge debate on my cars high mileage and its reliability.
it currently shows 156???miles but due to minor fire had to have binnacle replaced showing 196???miles.
this totals over 355000miles the cars history says it had to have complete bottom end rebuild at 84373miles.
but it still on original 6 diesel injectors.
-
Mileage to ME means nothing engine wise, all I care about is if it's had regular oil changes.
I hear a lot of remarks that vauxhalls over 150,000 are nearly dead, but through personal experience, they just seem to take it!
-
Does it still have the original engine in it? Not doubting it as I replaced mine at 165,000 and it was an ex-rental car so had the arse ripped out of it. To shock you more I replaced it with a 170,000 mile cavalier engine - that's how confident I am with Vauxhall engines. If they are well maintained they can last forever...

Did you have to change much to get the cavalier lump in and working.
-
Nice one ,your Miggys just about run in now. :yYou can start giving it some welly 8-)
-
Yes turned out to be a bit of a nightmare. Sump needed changing and the oil pick up strainer modified to fit the sump. Also had to tap the block to get the old sump back on - different threads. Won't be using one out of a cavalier again as it was alot of hassle. Vectra engines are alot easier to do if you can't get ahold of an omega engine.

Trigger only ever had one broom in 20 years sweeping the streets of Peckham. It had only had 17 new heads & 14 new handles ;D :D ;D

All the replies so far indicate what I have always found; always service your engine with the correct oil and parts, including cam belts at the right intervals, and 'modern' cars will keep going! :y
When I had new Carlton's, a Senator and an Omega for business my mileage in one year could easily top 100k, and at that point I considered them just "run in".
Indeed the Carlton's I had changed at 18 months (approx. 150K) as normal policy, although techniqually still "as new". The Senator got to about 180k before I part exchanged it for an Omega that I eventually sold at 146K, when I briefly (well for 6 years) departed to a Toyota Carina II. This I took to 240,000 and it was still going strong when I PX'd it for my current miggy. ;) All these milages are 'small ' compared to some examples mentioned on this thread, and my brother-in-law had a Volvo Diesel Estate (engine size unknown, but he stated was the same one they fitted in small lorries) that he took to 600k!! :o :o
Personally it is the body work I have found that eventually condems a car (as with the Senator! :'( :'() as the mechanical parts are always maintainable, even if it means an engine / transmission strip down. Major engine failures on at least Vx's (and Toyota's!) are down to poor maintenance programmes, although I know with certain other manufacturers engines it can be due to bad design. :'(

Totally agree never scrapped a car for any other reason.
