What a day. Had an important nay crucial Skype conference re our forthcoming first proper holiday in 12 years.
Turned my Pc on and the power pack gave up ( It had been dicky for days) spare Pc has lost Skype when I did a useless Windows reset. Better halfs Pc had no microphone. Managed to fix that with 10 seconds to spare.
Need two new laptops rather than desk tops. Have to be poor people operating systems (i.e. windows) as cannot afford Apple.
What is the minimum spec for low level applications ( card games, Skype, word processing, web surfing( albeit with maybe 15 windows open) ?
Memory
Processor
Graphics
Any make , model , supplier suggestions gratefully received. Don.t mind UK sourced as postage wont be too bad and probably cheaper than here. I quite like HP. :(

Firstly, avoid AMD like the plague.
If size/weight isn't an issue, you should be able to pick up an HP 250 G5 with 6th gen i3, 4Gb RAM and a big enough HDD for around £350 if you shop around.
Avoid "consumer" oriented HP (or Lenovo, or Dell) laptops as well.

If you can stretch to an SSD, Windows runs so much better...
