So after nearly 11 years I waved bye bye to my Omega this morning when 2 Polish blokes eventually turned up after buying it on ebay last week. ::)
Not a bad result really, the local scrappy had offered me £50 and I got £160. I was a bit shocked at the final ebay fee though, £30! :o Still my fault for not checking. ::)
So thanks to everyone here for all the great help and advice I've received over the years which has kept the old girl on the road a lot longer than otherwise would have been the case! :y :y :y

It doesn't mean that you have to stop talking to us, Sir Tigger.....
Ron.

Sorry to see you're leaving us, Tigger, but you talked a load of shite anyway. Bye. ;D

I always thought I fitted in quite well! ;D

Probably on it,s way to Gdansk as we speak, to be sold in Euroland for ten times what they paid you for it. :D
-
Why not stick around Sir Tigger? Many do after getting rid of their last Omega. :y :y
Believe me you will miss it and want to be part again of this great club 8) 8) 8)

I didn't say that I'm leaving OOF Lizzie, just that I've joined the ranks of the Omegaless OOFer's ;) :)
-
I got £130 scrap for mine, which seeing as they collected, I thought was OK :)
-
A lament dedicated to Sir Tigger and TB, to show we all empathise with their loss. :)

Like me. I just stay here to annoy everyone ;)

I got £20 for mine, but TBH there wasn't much left of it... almost a bare shell...
-
Oh! I always thought UK people are fighters for their dreams. Giving away an Omega for a couple of Ponds, Euros, Dollars or Zloty?
Unacceptable!
In case of some trouble with rust (Omegas main problem) I take out my welder. Nothing is impossible ;)

This is the the end of left rear skill after removing all rust. Repair sheet is welded in, but I could not do the finnish, because it was raining the complete weekend. More in a few days...

If I had a welder and some skill I might have had a crack at it. :)
But the thing is Rolf, your Omega in Germany is worth a lot more than ours are here in Blighty, so the time and effort is more worthwhile. ;)
-
Excuse me Sir Tigger
For me it is not a question how much worth is an Omega. I like the cars, that is enough reason to hold them.

And that's a good reason Rolf! :y
For me though the Omega needed a lot of work, I have been mostly using my BMW recently and one of them had to go. :(
-
Thank you Sir Tigger
I like to bring both of my Omegas to the "Oldtimer Status" (+30 years) :)

Mine needed a lot of work to keep it on the road too...
The bottom of the spare wheel well needed replaceing, as I could literally see the road underneath if I removed the spare wheel, plus there was a structural issue there too.... The rear section of the boot floor had a massive crack in it, I tow a caravan, so when you have 1 1/2 tonnes swinging off the rear of your car, you want it so it won't just break away at anytime....
Mine just wasn't worth the time and money to save it....

Hi out there anywhere ;)
The main reason why I am here (beside British Humor) is to show people out there how to hold an Omega. Have the courage, take it in your own hands and do it!
I am not a mechanic, but I can do anything on Omega welding.
Here some impressions, what I did on my Saloon early last year.

Last picture is a German Tüv certificate. Allows to registrate and using the car for another two years.
Best regards

By the way....
The old lady has done under 2000 miles since tuev last summer. I dis - registered her in November 2016. This year she is still sleeping. I want to switch over one year and wake her up in spring 2018 Tuev is still valid then and I see no reason to get a new one - until 2020.
