Title: Engine numbers
Post by: Superleggo on 24 May 2017, 23:31:11
Hi

I am building a special and I am using an engine and box from an Omega. I think my engine is a 3.0 and manual gearbox but not sure as the engine number and log book(V5) do not seem to match.

The logbook shows engine no 08254289 which I guess is 2.5 ltr

But the engine is difficult to read but looks like G4 150A 78777 which I think is a 3.0ltr

Is this correct? What sort of power does it make the seller told me 210hp?

Can you see the block of the engine as it should have the engine code stamped on it IE x30xe or x25xe

The 3.0 does make around 210bhp

Yes I can see the engine very easily as it is in a rolling chassis with no body work around it. It is clean and the numbers posted are the only numbers I can see they are one the LHS in the flange by the oil filter near the gearbox. Are there other numbers I should be able to find?

that sounds the right location to me,this is what one I currently have in bits in my back yard says on it
Is the oil filter a spin on or cartridge type?

I am sure the engine is a replacement.

The oil filter is cartridge type.

I will try and photograph the engine not this weekend

Where exactly is that number? Have you got another photo taken from slightly further away?

I have never managed to find the number on any of mine :-\

That is not a Vauxhall /GM Engine Number. That engine has been re-conditioned and that would be the number the re-conditioner would use
