August 16th i have been married 5 years, now as part of this i would like to take the good lady away for friday and sat night ;)
Most of the places i stay are very business orientated, not what i would call weekend getaway places.
Can anyone suggest a nice hotel in an area that will allow us to go out, possibly do a bit of retail therapy, somewhere scenic or that has interesting aspects, if possible a hotel that is something interesting as well
My budget is up to £300 for the accomodation for the two nights, i don't get to spend a lot of time with her so i like to make an event like this a bit special
I have been looking at the south west/wales even up as far as cheshire (theres a real nice place called Stanneylands that i have stayed at in the past)
cheers :y

On that budget you might even be able to get a romantic city break in Europe :-? :-? :-?

Lazy, that though had crossed my mind, she suffers from M.E. so we really need to have the car with us, if she gets tired then we can just chill in the hotel

Chester way is good for retail therapy - Cheshire Oaks on the M53 and Chester town centre is rather nice by all accounts. If you fancy a nice seaside walk, i gather there is actually a very nice bit of the Wirral, right at the end..?

Here you go:

Not too far from you, beautiful place (my parents used to have a 2nd home in this village years ago). There's a nice pool / gym / pampering complex, golf course if you're interested in that sort of thing. The food is fantastic, the views are fantastic, the house is a lovely, unspoilt old country house.
Might be worth a look.

BTT.
Bruges. It's got olde worlde charm. Shopping. Canals. Great beer. And great chocolate. And a freindly atmosphere. Yes, it's in Belgium - but that somehow doesn't matter. Book by Eurostar now and you should get a good price.

cheers for the ideas chaps :y
