standard 1703 50bhp 4 pot 3 speed box column change 41/2 inch lower metalflake paint
red and yellow interior-took me 3 months to do all done from shell in 4 months or so

My first car was a '59 Consul in Sunburst Yellow bought from a car sales/petrol station for £38.As you say 3 speed column change.Reg.number was 1601 UB sold it after a couple of years for £25.Next car was a '64 Zephyr 4 same engine as Consul but with a 4 speed column change box.

I had the lowline Zephyr think it was 1961 model in Ambassador blue lovely old car my first 6 cylinder.

Was walking along Exning Rd. in Newmarket this afternoon when a Consul went past me. Was a sort of light beige colour. Looked in very good nick too.

yep the yellow storage container- :y-now got 1998 volvo 940 --200+ bhp--taking it to nurburgring --that should be a laugh

Well Volvo made a touring car racer out of the 850[?] estate,so why not the 'ring,go there and have yourself a ball :y
As an aside,back in the mid '70's when there was talk of petrol rationing I got a book of coupons[which I still have :D]for the MkIII Zephyr 4[same engine as the Consul]this put it in the 1501-2200cc category and was rated at 14-19H.P. :o ;D ;D I think they used the [very]old RAC method of rating H.P.
