Just read that too....very sad....but a good innings of 96 ....
Used to enjoy Last of the Summer Wine :y

A show that went on too long, should have finished when Bill Owen finished.
Peter Sallis would still have been busy as Wallace.
RIP

Watched a few episodes of it with Russ Abbott, absolutely woeful.

We have lost quite a few of the cast of Last of the Summer Wine, most of whom will be sorely missed - except for the objectionable, archetyple Ma-in-Law, Dame Horror T u r d!
Ron.

Always lead to believe that Thora was a national treasure. :-\

Foggy, Compo and Cleg was the golden era. Still remains amusing now, unlike later episodes.
I enjoyed it so much, I have done the pilgrimage to Nora Battys steps, and Ivys Café :y

I thought we had a dead people thread for this. ;D

Yes I think Lord Opti made a brief appearance. ;D

Treasure that should be buried, ronnyd!

She is Ron. ;D ;D ;D

Aye, bye bye Wallace...

Yep, ronnyd, I did know that. I first saw her in a 1960s (?) film, A Kind of Loving, when she played mother-in-Law to Alan bates' character and she was SO much like MY mother-in-law that I have hated her from then on!
Ron.

Never stood a chance then, did she. ;D ;D

Good old Holmefirth :y
-
By coincidence he starred alongside McNee and Blackman in a very early episode of The Avengers shown on TV last night.I too enjoyed the early Last Of The Summer Wine shows and have been[a good many years ago]to Holmfirth.

Yeah. I especially like the public toilets with everything made of metal (including the baby change table) so as to prevent vandalism, the graffiti everywhere and the signs of drug use around the green areas and bogs.

I sincerely hope you didn't 'knock one out' whilst thinking about Nora Batty's wrinkled stockings. :)

I'm worried about what he did in the café. You know how he is with his cups of tea. ::)
