Title: lottery winner
Post by: raywilb on 20 June 2017, 23:26:05
I met a guy last saturday night that I briefly worked with. it was back in the day that the lottery started & he shared the first prize with others. his share was £2 million +. at the time after he won he was never seen again at work. he came from a village near bridlington and the building firm had their offices there. other guys from the same place were working on the site & after a few weeks they mentioned the lottery winner had bought two old cars , a Bentley & a rolls. the rolls wanted an exhaust & in the local pub he was winding up the local garage owner up . by saying he wouldn't be capable of fixing the exhaust . anyway he did do the job & charged him £1800. the guy paid his bill. apparently the lottery winner rang kwikfit in Bridlington to try & get a price from them . he gave the car details & the kwikfit manager said that he didn't even need to look it up as he did the exact same model the previous weekend & if he took it to them it would cost £800

In other words the £1,800 was the correct price for a genuine Rolls approved exhaust and Kwik Fitup were quoting for the wrong exhaust completely and would bodge up the car to make it fit. Fiction? Well maybe, but my eldest son once had the wrong exhaust fitted to his newly new Vauxhall Corsa by Kwik Fitup as they quoted a cheaper price for it than Vx. His car was never the same again, until he could afford to have Vx fit the right system ;)

whether it was the right system or not . his local garage had taken it to kwikfit & charged the guy a grand more without even touching it.

The garage 'claimed' to have done the job, but coincidentally at the exact same time they did it, Kwikfit had an identical model antique Roller in for the exact same job. Suspicious? Moi? 8)

At the end of the day he got the job done & made a decent profit that's what running a business is all about .
