Title: changing fuel pump, towbar in the way
Post by: omega2018 on 21 June 2017, 21:08:50
went to undo the 4 screws in the boot to get at the fuel pump and one screw is covered by the tow bar strengthener >:(.  that seems to be secured by at least 6 large bolts, 2 go through to welded on nuts so they're ok but the others are onto nuts obscured by the fuel tank.

has anyone come across this before?

i think my towbar was a factory fit, it is the removable type and this is an elite.  i'm tempted just to undo 3 screws on the fuel pump cover and bend it back. alternatively might be easier to hole cut the tow bar strenghtener above the screw.

not on mine the towbar strengtheners are about 50 cm away from the cover. only know that as had the carpet out to clean it and vacuum out the sawdust and stuff in there under it.

Undo the 3 screws and you may be able to swing it round
