In the first exchange of the new parliament, the subject of Grenfell Tower was front and centre. Corbyn showed himself to be an ignorant opportunist and he should be ashamed of himself for trying to make political capital out of it.
Mother Theresa came across as very assured and put the bearded one in his place.

It doesn't bode well does it?
May(hem) isn't stateswoman material and neither is the bearded one. How on earth could the UK have ended up like this.

I think Theresa May is quite capable of doing the job if she is not stabbed in the back by self-interested members of her own party. I really don't know why people think that the boring tw*t Hammond would be any better, and Boris should have been put into the place he can do least harm a long time ago.
If the tories really want to lose the image of rich, old etonian buffoons, they should steer well clear of people like Boris. He is the embodiment of what caricaturists see as a conservative MP.

I think she has a fragile veneer of competence. An illusion she is capable of dealing with the day to day problems that are all part and parcel of being PM.
I believe the big issues will find her lacking and out of her depth.
Having said that Corbyn is even less credible than she is. I supose I shall have to take the reins of our once great country and 'Make Britain great again' :)

Mr Albitz is right about one thing. There are very few political giants around at the moment.
For PM we had the choice between Theresa or Andrea who was clearly not up to the job. Boris is entertaining but would be a disaster as PM.

Look at the choices that the US electorate had just recently for similarity!

Imo the best of the bunch at the moment wold be David Davis. Born to a single mother on a council estate, a career in the army, including SAS reservist, then I believe he went into business and made something of himself, and then rose through the ranks in politics, to challenge the Eton idiot for the leadership, but they picked the wrong candidate.
Davis strikes me as having a good degree of old fashioned common sense, gained from actually living in the real world.
Is he the next Churchill or Thatcher in waiting though ? Probably not.

Hammond really needs to stop muddying the BREXIT waters. Everytime he makes a speech he comes out with something different. ::)
Stay in the single market, leave the single market, transitional deals etc..... I think he really needs to sit down and have a long chat with David Davis and Liam Fox, and stay on message rather than sniping from the sidelines. ;)

Exactly. A strong leader would have her team singing from the same hymn sheet.
Leadership battle? There wasnt one. May was gifted the job by whoever is pulling the strings. By the time we rejoin the EU that we never left she will have gone and we will have another puppet but this time someone using the right soft Brexit tones. They will be interim before the proper leader to fight the next GE.

I agree STEMO. In a completely unrelated comment - usual noise in the shallow end isn't there? :-X

This weekend I'm meeting up with people I knew in the 60s. Lives have all gone in very different paths, however looking at FB and other contact they're all VERY lefty Corbynites. How do I avoid a big argument ? How do I avoid ANY conversation that involves politics ? I'm not sure I will be able to discuss God and Sex all evening ::)
