Hi, I have an '02 Omega Elite 3.0 V6. In great condition and driving perfectly, then suddenly the engine started dying and engine fault light came on. Car went into limp home mode then died completely. The rocker gaskets were leaking for a while and I can see a lot of oil has dripped down onto the alternator. It sat for a while but yesterday I bought a new battery and tried to start it. Electrics are coming on, alarm and imobiliser (Viper 460 XV) working, but the engine is completely dead. Not a thing. Not even turning over.
Not sure where to start?

I assume the viper is a 3rd party immobiliser? Is it a replacement for, or in addition to, the standard Omega immobiliser.
Can you clarify the engine, as the last of the 3.0l ones are 2000 model year.
If the starter motor isn't responding, but all other electrics are fine, I'd be suspicious of 3rd party immobilisers and/or starter motor - but you'll need to go around with a meter to prove wiring, ignition switch and so on.

Seized aircon compressor? - try removing ancillary (fan) belt and seeeing if it turns over - if it fires turn it off - don't let it idle. Had this on an old mfl Elite Estate.

Thanks for this! I'll try turning off the third party imobiliser, go through it with a meter and take off the aux fan belt. See if that helps.
Cheers, K
