I need to replace the cat on my 2.2 petrol 2003 manual saloon + the rest of the exhaust back. The joint between the cat and rear boxes was replaced with a welded tube. The second cat has lasted 2 years past the point it was deemed not weldable/repairable any more and one of the two pipes to the rear silencer box has separated. So I just as well replace all of it with new.
Any recommendations please?
Thanks for any help.

I didn't mess about when one of mine failed in France 3 years ago: I ordered one for £70 off Ebay to be delivered by the time I got home, and fitted it the following day. Just like any other cat we've fitted, it's fine.

No idea, it was 3 years ago!
And it's still on the car and still good. I wish I'd replaced the other one when I had to do the rest of the system 4 months later.

Are we talking 2.2 or 3.0?

I had success with BM Catalysts years ago, wass gonna look for one from them again
although I have a good spare cat from my volvo which I may get welded on

Shame you aren't nearer, I've a near new cat back 2.2 system, good middle section and cat going cheap, postage would be a right pain in the butt though

There's some genuine cat's, not for Y/Z22XE but some of those seems to be same looking as on Y/Z22XE engine.
Could it be possible to modify one of those to fit?

Purchased a BM Catalysts come the end. I am very pleased with it at the moment.
Thank you all for your help and advice. :y

I got my cats from online automotive and the rest of the system from Poland.

silly question but obvious one realy when you think about it . what about fitting a cat (genuine) from another car. there must be some similar dimention ones on other new/ newer cars that would weld in place. ? and obviously this is something all owners of cars as they age to consider. im struggling nowadays to find exhausts for viva ,cavalier mk1 and carlton mk1 .this problem will eventually occur with omegas and not just with exhausts.in 20 years will we be able to find common service items easily that are essential such as cam belt rollers, kits, gaskets etc. to me the fun of owning an older classic but not to everyone
