In case you hadn't guessed this is a bit of a rant.
About a month after we had our garage broken into (took pressure washer and my halfords 170 piece kit) I had just about simmered down to a casual dislike of apeople and then...

SWMBO driving to the shops, some scum runs right down the side of her and speeds off. She's too shocked to get the reg, but thankfully not hurt. No cctv in the area to prove who the driver was so we're down the insurance excess >:(
What's making me even more furious is that I've been meaning to fit dash cams to both cars for about 3 months now. :-[ so, in a spirit of locking the door after the horse has bolted, guess what I'll be doing this weekend :-X.
Normal levels of hatred for all humanity have now been restored.

Oh dear. I feel for you :'(
There are some nasty, dishonest people out there! >:(
-
It's an absolute bummer, I'll bet wifey is very upset. It feels like physical assault when someone does that.
You say she's ok, Jimmy, but keep an eye on her. Delayed shock is a strange thing.
-
That's awful .
It must have been quite an impact to gouge the panels so ,I hope your wife get's over the shock quickly.
I had a near miss the other day in my van that upon reflection would have been difficult to prove was the other drivers fault if we had collided. I , like you, decided that the cost of a dash cam was very worthwhile and am in the process of choosing one .
Hope you get it all settled OK.
-
That is indeed very unfortunate, but sadly ever more prevalent, not only do you have those wanting to avoid an insurance premium loading[at the expense of others]but also the unlicenced/uninsured amongst us >:( Hopefully your lady will get over the shock quickly and although of only some consolation it is at the end of the day only a bit of bent metal and your lady is safe and sound at home.

Time to bring back hanging - by the gonads? >:( >:( >:(

If someone had done that my car I think I would end up doing time >:( That`s awful Jimmy, hope the missus is ok :y

Cheers Ste, and everyone else :). She's fine, nothing that a decent glass or two of Shiraz didn't fix. She drove it home following me a couple of hours after it happened and im pleased it hasn't knocked her confidence.
Booked in to go and see the repairer tomorrow so I'll get some sort of timescale off them then. Cost will be Ł400, which is the excess. Actual bill will be astronomical I've no doubt. Several Ł1,000's at least i would think. I very nearly lost it with the "Privilege claim centre" after a 20 minute conversation of me repeating myself (asian call centre - poor standard of english) the woman launched into a schpiel about passing my details to their approved repairer SomeSh!teGarage.co.uk and then spent several minutes trying to dissuade me from taking it to the manufacturer for repair >:(.
Skoda themselves OTOH were brilliant, had an AA guy there in under an hour to confirm it was safe to drive and arranged for their repair centre to contact me, again within the hour to have it booked in for repair. Compared to BMW who had me waiting around half a day for man in generic recovery van they have been excellent :y

Given the perpetrator of the vehicular abuse poked off, I'm guessing he didn't have insurance, or a license, or an MOT, or some combination thereof.. and so you'd probably still have been out of pocket for the excess and no doubt also cursing that the powers that be didn't lock him up and throw away the key :(
Still, they did a proper job there, didn't they! Glad to hear it's (only) bended metal and not soft fleshy bits.

Indeed they did! and yes, all the important parts came away unscathed!
TBH i wouldn't have minded had they written the car off as its coming up 18 months old and we have good Gap insurance. Not going to happen though, we await the garage's assessment :)

Oooo, missed this early. Thats not pretty :(
Glad the missus is fine, but for once, that STEMO is talking sense, the shock can come a few days later, and last a fair while.
But glad its only twisted metal, not twisted bones.
-
That's looking pretty bad & you are understably annoyed but at least no injuries, could have been a whole lot worse the way some idiots drive these days hope everything turns out ok & do keep a close eye on your other half.
-
"Normal levels of hatred for all humanity have now been restored" ;D ;D
Glad no personal injury.
I always wonder what the hit and runner says when they get home with a damaged car and it must surely have had damage.
-
Judging by the amount of wheel to body contact, I would guess it was barely drivable.
Difficult to speculate without seeing the driver & car but they probably just scrapped it and went out and bought another Ł250 mot failure off bum-tree. ::)

Sorry to hear and see this, Jimmy. :-\
