Title: Exhaust manifold to downpipe nuts.
Post by: neil74 on 12 July 2017, 13:49:15
Here I go with a stupid question.. what size are the nuts that hold the cat pipes to the manifold?. I ask because I've tried a 14mm and its too small i've also tried a 15mm and it seems to big are they AF or some other strange size or am I being a bit daft.

Cheers
Neil.

I seem to remember having problems with these myself several times, I think I resorted to a spark plug socket in the end

Well I've managed after a long tussle to change the whole exhaust just waiting on new lambdas as no matter how hard I tried I could not get the bloody things out of the old pipes.

Should have been done first...

Penetrating spray every day for a week on both the manifold/downpipes and sensors...

Then, on the day your doing the job, take the car for a hard thrash to get it nice and hot. Jack it up and then slacken everything, starting with the sensors and down pipe nuts ;)
