I was just wondering if any of you have any experience of scale insects affecting a tree? If so, what method did you use to get rid of them?
I have just eradicated them from a tree I have in the garden and, after reading about them online, I 'invented' my own method ::)

Napalm is good for killing insects :y :y

Cutting the tree down is quite an effective method :y ::)

Yes...obviously a bunch of townies. ;D

Well, there were all kinds of noxious substances, as well as environmentally friendly ways to treat them on the Internet.
I jet washed them off ;D ;D

Sounds like a right shower? ::) ::) ::)
If it works. :y :y :y
Wrong shower, if it doesn't. :-[ :-[ :-[

Were they little black things? ???
I have a cherry tree that was infested with millions of little black bugs and they were killing it, so I sprayed it with insecticide. The bugs have now gone and the tree is recovering. :y
I did think about the pressure washer and I would have sprayed the little bastards next door, as I'd cut the tree right back to keep the neighbours happy and it probably weakened it! >:(

No, these little blighters are brown and furry. They live under a scale (shell) and live on sap.

We had these. The little bastards clustered on the end of branches and the leaves curled over them. So we cut off and burned the really bad bits then sprayed off the rest.
Worked for us. :y
