I've got a terraced house that I rent out, which has caused me a lot of aggro in recent years because of the scumbag neighbours on either side. They are all the same family, woman, her nutter, teenagers, and 5 year old on one side and her 22 year old 'adult' son (never had a job), partner and 3 little uns on t'other side. ::)
The Police are always there for drugs, violence, abuse etc etc and everyone on the street is heartily sick of them, yet their Landlords and Agents won't move them on because they pay the rent. They both have the obligatory Staffie that gets chucked out in the back 'garden' and never gets walked and the latest crop of kids are shaping up nicely to be complete nightmares. >:(
I noticed yesterday when I was there that one of the dogs is in poor condition and has mange. :( What's the betting that although the authorities don't seem to be bothered about drug use around children, if I report this dog to the RSPCA they'll swing in action and the dog will be removed, cared for, fixed up and rehomed! ::)

'cos it would not contravene the Doggie Rights Act ?
-
They'd probably be hauled into court, prosecuted and have some sort of 'Control Order' imposed on them banning them from keeping pets. ::)
Yet when it comes to kids..... :-\
-
Thousands of little black babies in Africa are starving every day and their plight is graphically demonstrated on the news each evening.
Many people change the channel and frankly don't give a f*ck. :-\
On the new channel they hear the sad story of 'Bessie' the abandoned kitten or puppy....WHO NEEDS OUR HELP. Bessie looks at us with big sad eyes and people reach for their credit card.
Which do people care about most? A homeless mutt or a homeless man?
In summary, Sir Tig, the animals will have a better life than the kids.

Sir Tig, Would I be right in thinking you own the house and are the landlord?
If so surely you can instruct the agent that you wish to take possession of the house once the contract with the current occupiers ends.
Sounds as though their rent is paid by the DHSS in the form of housing benefit.

Ah....got it now. I'm not the sharpest tool in the box. :-\

I do understand what you are saying, Sir Tigger, but I have a couple of observations here: those starving babies live in a country with a government, which has a duty of care towards its citizens - so let them sort the problem?
Or is it their government that doesn't give a f*ck?
Ron.

Frankly, all of the current formulaic "insert sob story here" adverts I see prompt me to turn off the TV and make a mental note not to touch the "charity" concerned with a barge pole. ::)

Ron.
Or this maybe a bit controversial why have kids in the first place if you cant feed/cloth or take care of them
-
The thought occurs that if they saved all the sh*tloads of money they are spending on these adverts - every day we get them - they could use that money to give the "poor, starving black babies".
Another thing that annoys me, and all charities are doing it, including save-the-donkeys, etc., are telling you how much to donate each month - F*CKING CHEEK! If I ever wanted to donate I will decide how much, thank you!
Ron.

There's there thing though btc, the young couple are probably bringing in between £30,000 - 40,000 a year in various benefits. There's plenty of money, they just can't be bothered to look after the kids and their dog properly. ::)
The point of my thread was that the authorities are more likely to swing into action over the dog than the kids! :-X :(
Just having a little rant really! :)

I was once kicked by a donkey.
The only charity I would donate to would be the 'turn the donkey into glue' charity. :)

In the case of Africa there are at least two reasons.
1. Many of them are of a Roman Catholic tradition, and even though their circumstances are dire, the Vatican will not sanction the use of any form of contraception.
2. They are of a similar mindset to British people of the Victorian age, in that they want to have children to take care of them when they are older, and have 4 or 5 kids in the knowledge that at least a couple of them probably wont survive to adulthood.
So the best aid we can probably give them is an enlightened education and an endless supply of condoms. :)
As for the TV advertising charities. They are a sector of the economy, with all that this implies. They usually have the infrastructure of a medium to large PLC, with directors salaries to match, and huge pension fund liabilities for past and present employees.
I would dearly love them to be compelled to publish very detailed and transparent accounts of where their money goes.
Ian Botham resigned from the RSPB a few years ago, after a lifetime of support when he discovered "It is a pension fund, with a charity attached to it."

Also Ron, as my late SIL found out, that after a few months of paying her fiver a month, the tossers kept bombarding her with letters and phone calls to up her payment to a tenner. She stopped the payments altogether. Served the buggers right. >:(

Who would guessed it. ::) ::) ::) Please make sure you pay your taxes on time as poor little Eton educated thick Tiggy is counting on it as the only well-paid job he can hold down, where Eton educated David CaMoron and Gideon pushed through nationalization of charity collection so 2% of your taxes goes to Foreign Aid, and thick Tiggy's Foreign Aid consultancy is doing very nicely, thank you mugs generous tax payers. They are handing it out with careful due diligence like spraying sh*t against the wall to all and sundry at £350 to the average working tax payer as your compulsory donation. I'm sure it makes you proud to be British, just think of the terrorist you are saving and radicalizing so he can generously pay-it-back with a nice bit of interest with their Semtex vest. :( :( :(
You must be so proud, knowing it is all going to such worthy causes and you could not possibly spent £350 better on yourself or your family. :-X :-X :-X
