I am new on here, I have a 2001 Omega V6 estate and the alarm keeps going off, I am no mechanic, how can I stop it? Could it be the battery?
-
It might be the battery - there is a guide for checking the battery and charging system.
It might be the switch under the bonnet - sometimes the bracket gets bent and triggers random alarms.
It might be leaking batteries in the powersounder. If it is the powersounder at fault there is a 50/50 chance that the thing will burst into flames and destroy your car

As an easy starting point, disconnect the bonnet switch & see what happens.

Last time my alarm kept going off intermittently on my Omega, it was the power sounder. Fitted a new one and all was well. Another indication of a faulty powersounder is three beeps when you lock the car.

Thanks for your reply, my car beeps three times when you lock the car, so it looks like the powersounder.

Unplug & remove then. Under driver's side of the scuttle.

I was lucky with my one in so much as the batteries had leaked all over the board and destroyed any chances that a dead short could occur and ignite the car.

I beleive there can also be an issue on estates with the rear window sensors ?
