Title: Is there a need to change the crank sprocket (timing belt) ever? V6, Y26SE
Post by: polilara on 15 August 2017, 07:35:36
Started to change my timing belt etc. as earlier. Now 240 000 km behind so this is the fourth time. Do you think that we should sometimes change the crank sprocket as well, does it wear??

If yes then perhaps the front oil seal should be changed as well.

Actually no leakages found from crank or cam oil seals (front). Is any preventative work recommended or do I just change timing belt (+idlers, tensioner, water pump) as earlier and just drive the next 60k?

If it isn't leaking I'd leave it be.

No need to replace the crank sprocket, IMHO. :y

You would only need to change the sprocket on chain driven cams  :y

Hello

Thanks for comments and advice, saves time and money, too. If the front end of cams or crank start to leak perhaps I can see it in the garage floor.
