Title: full steering lock noise

it seems my mig doesn't like a full steering lock . it squeals . any ideas what causes it

Holding the steering against the stop puts immense strain on the power steering.

There is a pressure relief valve in the hydraulic pump to prevent the hydraulics springing a leak (which will make a hissing noise) but the noise you are hearing is probably the auxiliary belt slipping.

If it isn't the belt then suspect the pump.

Most cars give a groaning / squealing noise from the power steering if held on full lock - more noticeable when stationary or at very low manoeuvring speeds. Belts also squeal when they are damp or glazed through age.

My 4banger is currently stalling if held on full lock on tick over, icav and breather jet are due a clean  >:(
