Title: Instead of a dreary derv Astra for the old boy.....
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 16 August 2017, 11:39:11
....could this be considered a viable alternative? :)

£4000 more expensive, but at least it should unblock the old boy's adrenal glands when he presses the pedal on the right.

Room for the whippet behind the seats. :y

I may have found the perfect compromise. :y

I imagine the accelerative G-force would probably finish him off.

Perhaps I should have posted a link to an elderly Humber or Riley instead. :y

Looks adequate.

I fear it might unblock a little more than the adrenal glands, of both he and the whippet, but it does have wipe clean vinyl seats. :y

A mixture of Toyo T1Rs and Yokohama AD08s is going to make handling "interesting", though. :o

Yes....I believe that both STMO and the whippet suffer with 'loose stools' at the best of tlmes. :)

It could all become very messy. ;)

I very much like that. Very much.

I know, I know, it's a Rover V8 so it's asthmatic, has a stretched timing chain, valve seat recession, smokes like a two stroke and makes 50hp on a good day* but still, I want it.

*I am channeling my inner OOF, here. I don't believe they're *that* bad, they make at least 100hp on a good day ;)

If the engine is from the RR 4.6, then I assume it is tuned for low down toque rather than high RPM power.

Should still be nippy though. :)

Should still be nippy generate gratuitous tyre smoke and oversteer at any speed, in any gear though. :)

I was going along a single carriageway A road the other day and came up behind a truck, but heard a growl behind, looked in the mirror and there was a Westfield or similar behind the car behind me.

He went to overtake the car behind me and I tucked in to let him go by, so he booted it and jeez was that thing fast!  :o  :y

He did give me a wave as he flashed by.  :y

Too much for Uncle STEMO to handle I fear.  :)

Yep.....I have just remembered the thread when he asked why 'some modern motor cars' will do almost 100 MPH when the speed limit is seventy. ;D

....and presumably no ESP nanny to keep it going in a straight line.  :)

Still, at least it has a 5 star NCAP rating should it all go tits up. :)

I'm qualified to do them in the air instead now. Cheaper that way - less to hit up there. :-[
