£3750 they gave me:

That's about £1,500 wiggle room then... might offer them £4,500 for shits and giggles :D

I've bought at TCP four or five times now, there is virtually no negotiation on the price. They'll up the trade in offer and mess around with the finance, but hardly ever anything off the sticker price.

But have they ever sold a car in that colour ::)
Apart from to you...

Fact of life really. I'm not excluding the markup, but they do have to pay VAT on the difference between buy & sell price, so the profit is "only" 80% what you think it is. :-X

There are ways of reducing that 20% ;)

I thought you said you were pleased with what they offered you. That it was more than you thought. :)
Anyway......£6000 for a 5 year old 1.4 Astra seems overly optimistic to me.
-
Snotty Shadow Green....... ::)
corrected that colour for both you & Sir Tig , Steve ;)
-
Can't imagine a 1.4 litre Astra presented in 'poverty spec' and finished in a colour that may offend the more sensitive amongst us is worth more than £4000. :)

Probably why they have held off of posting a pic. ;D

I stuck it into parkers and they said £3400. WBAC offered £3150, so I was quite pleased with £3750. I never expected them to ask nearly six grand for it but, you know, that colour..... :-* :-*

Are you suggesting the colour has added a couple of grand to the price? :o :o :o :o :o
Six grand is a ridiculous figure. I think they will soon realise they have this wrong.
Expect a big reduction.

This one is £500 less, but has done 16000 miles more :-\

Dealers usually put a high price on their cars when first advertised, just to see who bites. Had that with my first Mig, bided my time and got it 900quid cheaper.

It's gone! Not that I'm surprised, it was a very desirable colour. :)

One of the managers will have snapped it up before it went out on the forecourt.

A very junior manager, I imagine. :)

No need, Enery. You know I was very fond of the old bogey. :(

My Omega with FSH & 1 owner was up for £2995 in 2010, got it for £1995 + £600 trade in on my knackered Mazda 626 estate an absolute bargain at the time trouble free for the 5 years I owned it & sold it for £750 in 2015.
