...I broke my own advice, and bought something from egay.
I purposely picked one that was in the UK, as sick to the back teeth of any dealing with Chinese sellers/companies. Not in anyway racist, as I really do like black bean sauce ::)
Needless to say, as soon as I got the Paypal email, I'd paid someone who's name was spelt in hieroglyphics, so I knew I was oppsed.
Obviously, the tat that turned up was wrong, and all I can get now is no-speaky-inglesh.
*sigh*
Which also reminds me, I need to chase something I ordered from Chinky outfit Banggood (yes, I know it sounds like a porn shop). Its already got stuck in Chinese customs once. Grrr.

Oh dear, Etards strike again :(
Couldn't happen to a nicer fella ;D

And while I'm on a Made in China rant, what fikwit at crApple came up with the bloody stupid, unreliable keyboard on this laptop, with each key having about 1mm travel, and having a near American stupid layout.
It takes twice as long to type anything, and for what gain, just so it looks gay >:(

Not Apple's fault you have fat fingers? :P

That may well be the route cause.....although I am sure he may also struggle with my Ultrabook (all be it whilst still having a wad of cash in his pocket)

Presumably a management inspired acquisition ::)

I could put up with a lot for a wad of cash. ;D

Not what you're thinking. ::)

Well if this is crApple versus proper laptops, in the spirit of fairness, my other works laptop is also Chinky... ...a Lenovo T440 Ultrabook. Now, whatever mongrel thought that new take on a touchpad was a good idea needs to be castrated before being allowed to breed.
But at least its possible to type accurately on it, and the keyboard isn't noisy, and the buttons are in the right place.
Obviously, I don't pay for any, but if I was told I had to give one of them up, you can bet your arse it would be the £2,600 crApple that would go before the £800 Lenovo. The Lenovo is lighter, is capable of connecting to wired networks without external dongle, has USB, is a damn sight lighter, and has a usable keyboard. If only Lenovo would use a traditional touchpad...

Egat dispute raised a few days ago, strangely enough, just before it can be escalated to egay for their decision, all of a sudden the chinky seller can speak English.
I FIKCING HATE EGAY

I FIKCING HATE EGAY
I buy a lot of stuff of Egay including from Hong Kong and China, but touch wood, to-date I've only had problems on two occasions which were quickly resolved. Much prefer it for most cheap things to Amazon as they are generally cheaper and without the extra £2.80 p&p cost. Three rules I use, plenty of sales and feedback, above 99.8% positive feedback or I go elsewhere and if it is much cheaper than everybody else (too good to be true) I will avoid. :y :y :y

Likewise - never had a problem with eBay sellers (eBay buyers, on the other hand, appear to be universal morons.. present company excepted, I'm sure ;)).
I blame user error, personally.

Yep, likewise, in fact, I've had very few problems buying stuff from China, etc. on ebay, as long as you recognise what you're buying, and find it's the UK sellers that are a PITA. It matters little, because Ebay always appear to side with the buyer if you have a problem anyway.
Selling on Ebay, on the other hand, is a waste of time, for the above reason.
Having said all that, I only ever spend beer money on Ebay, so, if it does go wrong, I don't get too upset.

It's not the sellers per se, but rather the poor choices of delivery system...
Ordered a pair of gearbox mounts on Wednesday from a certain section of a well known automotive parts supplier, the one with a perpetual sale on... paid extra for them to be delivered yesterday in irder to fit them today.
DHL collected on Wednesday, they arrived at their 'not in Gatwick' depot yesterday at 5am, and were out for delivery at 10am with delivery scheduled for 'by end of day'... Still no sign and the tracking doesn't work any more as the date has changed >:(
Lots to do today, but most of it will involve yelling at breaktards rather than doing anything useful :-X

I purposely select UK Only so I don't have to deal with the Chinese when it all goes wrong. But most of them are Chinese sellers as well, just with a UK warehouse... ...and first you know is when the Paypal receipt lands in your inbox.
I have no issue with the cheap Chinese tat, understanding its tat, but I do sometimes want something of usable quality. Or to be as described... ...since when has an SD card been a micro SD. Yet the lead is still for sale all over egay, claiming to be micro SD, different sellers (though I suspect same seller, different accounts).
So, yes, I will get my money back, but I'm still without what I needed. I still have to traipse down to the post office and supply my own packaging to send it back. So its still a huge inconvenience, and has cost me time and money.
rather songs, the lot of 'em

I used to feel smug that I never paid more than 12p for a micro usb charge cable in the past, even if you had to wait 5 weeks for delivery.
I've had about 4 or 5 let the smoke out now, last one wiped out my USB charger, which will be £10-12 to replace. That wiped the smug smile off :D
