Came across this article and it made me smile.
How can a company be that "big" and have no employees? ;D ;D

Only person we all know with that sort of wealth is Lord Opti, so that is probably a good place to start with questions on does he know anything or what the company does? ;D ;D ;D
I suspect the company has massively increased the share capital ceiling of the company. I don't know Portuguese law on whether they can, in turn, be allocated to the directors or if there are any tax implications?
iirc Many years ago I was advised by my accountants where a business was doing well to increase the maximum share capital ceiling of a company and increase our share holdings. At the time there were no tax implications when doing so as it was essentially a paper exercise and tax liabilities only arose if and when you sold the shares.

But the article states:
"Yupido’s website says the company has an executive committee of 10 people, presided over by a CEO and a sales director"
So are those people not employed by the company? Do they work for free?
Funny goings on and like no company I have ever worked for! A right fiddle coupled with bullshit!! ::) ::) ::) ;)

Given his recent expenditure I think Lord Opti has sold out. :y

I think the difference is a technical one. In many aspects of company and tax law, employees and directors are treated differently. What the article is basically saying is that control of the company is vested in 10 people and it has no workers.
I don't know (clearly, as no-one seems to at the moment), what the company's function was. But, shooting in the dark it looks like it could be the "middle man" in a chain to shift profits out of europe and into a tax haven. Standard practice for big business, and also those involved in illegal activities.
